When was the last time you did something purely for the goal of being happy? When was the last time you were intentional about your happiness? Do you wake up in the morning excited about your life? Are you mentally and emotionally ready to go to work each morning? If you answered no to any of these questions, you may want to ask yourself “Why?”. Why aren’t I living a happy life? What do I need to do to change this behavior? Scientists are asking themselves these same questions and trying to figure out what they can do to observe and change these behaviors. Ali Nasr Isfahani and Marzieh Nobakht of Isfahan, Iran recently conducted a study called Impact of Spiritual Intelligence on the Staff Happiness (Case Study: Golpayegan Petrochemical Company). Their overall goal with this study was to analyze and observe the correlations between spiritual intelligence and the happiness of the staff at the Golpayegan Petrochemical Company. Isfahani and Nobakht wanted to see if active spiritual intelligence had any effect on the overall health, positive emotions, and enthusiasm of the factory workers at GPC. Active spiritual intelligence and non-active spiritual knowledge are two separate things. The distinguishing factor is that spiritual intelligence is active, applying your spirituality too your everyday life, while spiritual knowledge is simply having the knowledge without the application. The study was performed as a survey/questionnaire and because of this there are many factors that play into the inaccuracy of the results such as: the demographic of the participants, and the culture and lifestyle in which they live. These things can have a great influence on the outcome of a study, and although the study was conducted in an orderly, scientific way it does not prove the relationship between the variables. It does however tell us a lot about the correlations between the variables and how one can influence another. For instance, the survey showed that people who have high levels of spiritual intelligence that they live out daily tend to be happier overall and nicer to work with in the factory. Although practicing patience seemed to not have any significant correlation with happiness whatsoever, many of the results of this questionnaire have very positive correlations with
