Purpose of a Business Continuity Plan A Business Continuity Plan (BCP) is a comprehensive plan that helps a company prepare for different types of emergencies. The goal is to ensure that mission-critical functions, or Critical Business Functions (CBFs) continue operation after a disaster strikes (Managing Risk in Information Systems, 2011). A business continuity plan also contains a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) which concentrates on restoring all data and information technology.
