I causes for a life style; accommodations throughout the workplace and at home. After looking over this type of work field I know that many of the qualities , in my opinion, are compatible with me. The main goal I have when choosing a job is to help people. Once i saw myself as a person that could entertain people and keep them happy but after seeing the tasks of a psychologist I now want to do much more. I feel that people often need someone to understand them. As a psychologist I would have the potential to help people and lower the chances of suicide and possibly the amount of people with disorders. Many of the people in this world are misunderstood and this job gives me the power to change that.
There are a few reasons why people select a certain profession. One possibility in choosing a particular career based on a personal experience, personal values, or significant relationships with people. These factors play an influential role when guiding one to decide what profession will best fit him or her. For instance, one who has dealt with a rare disorder such as Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare condition that weakens the and affects the nervous system, may desire to be a doctor or a physical therapist and provide assistance for those with rare disorders. Regarding social work, there have been factors which guided me into choosing this field as my future profession.
In my head I think I have gone over tons of different degrees and career ideas and none of them seemed to really jump out at me. That was until I found Psychology it was very interesting to me and I found that I could be passionate about it. A Psychologist is a professional who studies behaviors and mental issues in order to help them cope with life. A Psychologist tries and diagnoses people who people might call crazy and in other words are unable to cope with day to day life. There are many types of Psychologist and one of them is someone who studies criminals and their behavior to get a better idea of how or why they committed a crime. They also make guesses based on the evidence at hand so they can try and recreate how the criminal committed
I extensively researched the pros and cons of being a psychologist and the results were endless for both sides. Just like any other profession, there are generally equal amounts of cons as there are pros when you are researching a particular job. “The pros include: Several different areas of study depending on your interests, an incredibly rewarding career path, good pay depending on where you end up, and job prospects all over the world” (HRF). “The cons include: Getting a job might be a challenge, undergraduate and graduate school is a must, chance of research failing or being disproven, and some people do not consider psychology as an actual science” (HRF). Also, dealing with clients and their issues can, oftentimes, be draining and difficult to
Depending on what you do with your Psychology degree and whether or not you continue onto your masters or PhD. “The amount of pay can vary from $34,750 annually to 90,020. As
Psychology is my number one career field choice. In many ways, it also reflects every other career choice that I have. Teachers lead our young toward successful lives. Government workers help to push policies that improve processes for their people. And professional athletes commit their live to the vast study of their sport and practice to master the skills needed to thrive and succeed. As a psychologist, I can see myself implementing all three of these ideas. I want to master all the skills of psychological diagnosis, improve on many of the processes of the practice, and be able to successfully educate individuals to the point that they feel a sense of empowerment.
Counseling psychology is one of the most interesting career choices in the field of psychology. However, this career fits my personality in several aspects. A person in counseling psychology will generally use personality tests, interviews, case histories, and observation methods to evaluate a patients' problems, needs, and goals. Counseling psychologists will evaluate data and, create an action plan or treatment plan to counsel the patient with. The goal in this career is to help each patient work toward developing and adjusting social, educational, personal, and vocational skills. I’ve always had an interest in listening to people. Throughout my adult years, people of
My choice of research was in the play behaviors of children as well as aggression. Breaking the topic down more, behavior relates to the psychology and the psyche of each individual. The definition of psychology is “science of mind and behavior” (Clavijo, 2013). After reading the article by Clavijo, I have realized that psychology can be defined in three ways such as the study of the mind, the study of behavior, and the study of the mind and behavior. In the text “The Developing Person” by Berger, behavior is learned through social learning. Children learn different behaviors through the observation of others, others being children and adults. Different people have affects on a child’s life that can affect their behavior. A child’s behavior is heavily influenced by their parents. A son may speak aggressively and without respect towards his mother because this is the way that his father speaks to her therefore he feels that is how to communicate with his mother (Berger, 200, 2012). Moving into play behaviors, children learn from other children in how to play. Most believe cognitive growth relies on child’s play time. Vygotsky and Piaget both believe that when children play it is beneficial, but according to Vygotsky, playing enables a child to think outside the box and create their own meaning from objects, using their imagination. Piaget believes that child benefit from playing together because children and sharing their knowledge and making it more concrete ideas and thoughts. There are four stages of plays, with the fourth stage being the highest most complicated play which consists of rules and guidelines for the game. The lowest level or play would be functional play being infants shaking rattles, clapping their hands, or blow...
Basically saying that yes psychology is more than a clinic or office career but there is also an entire “exotic” field of psychology with different travel opportunities. Different types of traveling psychologists include; military, sports, environmental, forensics, circus, NASA, google, filmmakers, traffic, and etc. (“while the traditional image of a psychologist may be someone stuck behind a desk all day seeing patient after patient, in reality, many psychology careers offer frequent travel. In many cases a patient wont visit them the psychologists visits the patient, some even travel overseas”). While everyone assume it is a boring desk job it can simply become an opportunity to travel and do what you love, helping people mentally and emotionally. With that being said psychologists have many different fields, and just because it seems unentertaining look into all the other options, each year hundreds of thousands of undergraduates decide to become psychology majors, along the way they gain a greater knowledge of all the fields and branches in psychology. With plenty of education and experience comes the opportunity to advance in your

A clinical psychologist’s salary is one that will be growing steadily along with the number of growing demands for psychologists. Anyone who chooses to pursue clinical psychology, that fits the profile for the job, will be set and secure. My paper is based on an article from the text’s web site (chapter 9) entitled “Lack of sleep ages body’s systems.” The basic claim of the article is that sleep deprivation has various harmful effects on the body. The reported effects include decreased ability to metabolize glucose (similar to what occurs in diabetes) and increased levels of cortisol (a stress hormone involved in memory and regulation of blood sugar levels). The article also briefly alludes (in the quote at the bottom of page 1) to unspecified changes in brain and immune functioning with sleep deprivation.
...ject. To be a psychologist you have to be a good listener and know how to relate to people’s problems as well as other things.
