A. What do psychodynamic theorists think is the basis for personality?
Personality is a pattern of emotions, behaviors, and specific thoughts that portray how a person adapts to their surroundings. Psychodynamic perspectives mainly relies on the unconsciousness of an individual and absence of awareness is motivated. These theorists rely on the fact that our behavior is is only the basis and helps us identify a person’s personality.. Sigmund Freud strongly believes that the personality of an adult shapes our point of view on life and is a reflection of our childhood. A thematic pattern is defined as a projective test that reveals aspects of a personality that was developed by Henry Murray and Christiana Morgan. I see a thematic pattern in my responses that show people and their possessions. I also see a pattern of animals. Rorschach would reveal my personality as caring, helpful, and interested in different types of people. Rorschach may even predict that I am interested in the medical field. I agree with Rorschach’s opinion of me and I find it very accurate.

Where would Freud say you are fixated? How would Freud say this fixation affects your personality? Do you agree with Freud’s opinion of you? Explain.
Freud would say that I am fixated in the genital stage. In this stage the physical focus is genitals. “The psychological theme is maturity and creation and enhancement of life. So this is not just about creating new life (reproduction) but also about intellectual and artistic creativity. The task is to learn how to add something constructive to life and society.”
