Although same-sex teenage relationships were looked down on before and were not common, today many teens are in a same-sex relationship. This is critical to developing sexual and social identities. In this paper, readers will learn the ups and downs of teenagers in a world of relationships and sexuality. Growing up in a home with parents of the same sex is viewed in negative ways to a lot of people, but studies show that a child is well adjusted to being raised under a roof with parents of the same sex just as well as a child with a male and female parent under the same roof. (Same-Sex Parents Raise Well-Adjusted Kids, Louise Chang, MD) Same-sex teenage relationships were not well perceived by many people not too long ago, but many teens today are in that kind of relationship seems that teens are exploring their sexuality. One in ten teens has a same-sex relationship. (Reuters Health) These teens experience the bullying, bashing, and slurs of being in a same-sex relationship, because of their sexuality. Gay bashing and gay bullying is verbal or physical abuse against a person who is perceived by the aggressive to be gay, lesbian, or bisexual, including persons who are actually heterosexual or of non-specific or unknown sexual orientation. Sexual slurs, most are inappropriate, are thrown at them almost every day. The most common questions for this topic are: Born interested or learned? Do all types of abuse lead to a change in sexual orientation? Growing up interested in same-sex because of parenting from two same-sex parents? The largest ever study into same-sex parenting has shown that children are well adjusted being raised by parents of the same sex.
