Reasoning’s behind putting things off till the very end can be looked down upon into three different categories according to studies shown: dealing with stress in poor way, failure to prioritize certain tasks, and pure laziness. Professor Timothy Pyhchyl of Carelton University, in Ottawa, Canada describes this these situations as us “giving into the temporary feel good” (Pyhchyl,1) situation avoiding something we don’t have any motivation to do or just don’t have any interests in doing, and instead taking your interests and actions somewhere else that you’d much rather be doing. This issue is taken in as a natural reaction as it correlates with your brain the same way it computes fear, pushing those unwanted feelings that come along with the task itself. Face it we all find things better to do other than that one writing assignment due, the email we don’t want to respond to and instead giving into the “temporary good feelings.” Procrastination can be classified as a trait or a built in habit at first in today’s college society. “Students seem to remember the one time that maybe waiting until the last minute did pay off with a good grade, but they forget the other nine times when it didn 't," (Pychyl,14) But with pushing things back just because of the pure fact that we don’t have the motivation to do it, comes back to bite even as it’s a natural reaction towards something we don’t really enjoy.
