I think the problem with contemporary architecture is that it is superficial and it lacks depth and meaning. I feel that most architects today design more for the edgy factor and care more about designing aesthetically pleasing buildings instead of for the comfort and needs of people. Certain designs lack growth and the ability to survive throughout the years. I also feel that some designs are absent in their connection to culture, nature and context and when these connections are absent the building we are designing is essentially just another shell.

our designs should have the ability to grow with a society. The needs of a society will change over time and if our designs cannot change with them then all we are doing is building temporary structures or soon to be abandoned and forgotten places.

A very big problem I think is the connotations of contemporary architecture. I think that is seen as style of architecture that should be magnificent in façade, function and use of materials, and this could be the reason for superficiality in architecture. I think that it should be seen as style that explores innovative means to design not only for people but sustainably as well. We need to talk to them, question them, survey them or use any other method to understand them. We need to live with them in their current context to understand what they need and what we could provide. By doing this we could also gain some understanding of what future generations could possibly need. We should involve them in our design decisions. To allow them to have a say in what the building could look like and how it could function. We need to talk to them to understand how the site works and where the problems lie. Essentially their are the only people who understand and know the space in which they are living and they are the ones who will be living in or using the building we are
