Human trafficking is one of the most grotesque and hidden crime that exists in our world. Countless men, women and children are kidnapped and trafficked every day. Once trafficked, those victims are forced to do slave labors in unbearable conditions and are sexually exploited. Not only men and women, but sadly even children are victim of this terror. This modern day slavery is happening everywhere, including United States. Therefore we must look at these issues thoroughly and take action that will slow down or prevent this heinous crime completely.

Forced labor is hidden, each year thousands of men, women and children are kidnapped and forced to work without being paid in miserable conditions. Most of them are rarely seen in public spaces, hidden from view, they toil in sweatshops, farms and private homes. It is inhumane because the victims have been tortured, raped, assaulted and murdered. Victims of forced labor are vulnerable to ill health because they often are forced to live in overcrowded housing with poor sanitation, such as 30 workers sharing one to three showers and few toilets. Since we generally think that girls on the street have chosen to be there, we have only given sex traffickers a great cover to hide behind. Women who are being trafficked are silent victims. Their pimp has physically and mentally abused them daily, continuously manipulating them into thinking they are not capable of deciding on what to do and can’t survive without the pimp. These poor victims live in fear constantly and refuse to talk about what really goes on behind the scenes, for if they did, they would be brutally assaulted and possibly murdered by their pimp. Each day the victims are given a quota of a couple thousand dollars to meet each night and if it is not met, they are beaten and sent out again to achieve that amount.
