Human development begins from the moment a person is born. The babies parents and family members take care of them, by providing food, water, shelter, and love. Without these four necessities, especially love, the baby’s development would not flourish. The reason that love is important, is because babies do not understand the world around them. They are completely clueless about how to survive and how the society works. Love is the only thing that babies understand. There have been instances where babies have been left on sidewalks, grocery stores, and even on park benches, because theirs parents did not understand how to show love to their child. For instance, we start asking questions like who am I going to be in life, or what do I want to accomplish? By asking yourself these questions, you start creating a pool of different kinds of answers. One might be confused by which path they should be taking in life to be happy and successful. The important thing to do is self-reflect. Reflection brings all these thoughts and questions together, and filters them so that these thoughts are clear and coherent. People who do not reflect begin to experience stress, confusion, and trepidation. Not too many people reflect nowadays, because they are busy being on their phones, computers, or any other kind of technological device that keeps them from thinking. One issue I have with technology is that social media is playing a negative role in our society. The reason for this is because, for many people, anything that is put on the internet must be true. It happens over time through self reflection, marriage, family, career, and society. The most essential notion that each human being should ponder about is Kierkegaard’s inquiry, “Who am I as a subject; not what am I as an object.” What Kierkegaard wants us to do is reflect upon the decisions we make. I make myself in my decisions. If I decide to drop out of school, and not take life seriously, than I am making myself a complete failure. The choices I make are things that should be important to me and my future. This is an important part of human development. We as humans are free in our actions and thoughts, but it all depends on how we use it to benefit ourselves. We should not live like inanimate objects or robots that are programmed to live life a certain way and be fine with it. The human mind and is a beautiful gift that all of us possess and should use to form oneself through memories, emotions, and interactions with other people in society.
