Do we ever think about how many children suffer from obesity? Many people haven’t realized that childhood obesity is slowly becoming a serious problem here in the United States. Our government should take childhood obesity very seriously to solve this problem. The government along with other citizens should care about childhood obesity is because everyone here is a human being. Every child may not be affected by this problem, but there will always be a child who is suffering from obesity. The government must also care because many of those children can possibly be the future of our country. If they deprive those children from getting any type of aid then the country is also losing their next engineers, doctors, or police officers. There are several causes of obesity and there are also many solutions that need to be found to solve childhood obesity. Overall childhood obesity needs to be taken seriously as there are many parents who are in desperate need of help for their children.
Childhood obesity was recognized in 1909 by insurance companies after evaluating their statistics. “Obesity is defined as an abnormal increase of fat in the subcutaneous connective tissue (Kelly 5). This definition is debated among physicians and the most common way people determine whether another person is obese is simply by looking at the person. However, Kelly states that some professionals aren’t accurate when determining if a person suffers from obesity. According to the Mayo Clinic childhood obesity is when a child exceeds weight for on his height and age.

...nd to feel like an outsider because they don’t feel comfortable talking to others. One thing is for sure, falling into obesity is easier than trying to get out of it.
Obesity is one of the most dangerous health issues not only in the United States, but across the world. In my opinion our government should pay serious attention to how they plan to find solutions to this dilemma. The futures of those children rely on the help that we provide for them. If they aren’t being taken care of how can we expect to save other people with other types of issues? It is easy for others to think obesity can be solved from one to another. However they fail to realize that in order to fix this problem they will have to work on it little by little. In conclusion obesity can be deadly so be aware of the consequences obesity has so that our children can live a healthy and normal life.
