Everyone of you hearing this, whether I’m reading it to you or you are reading it yourself need to understand that you need to thank god your mothers wanted you. We are blessed by each person on this Earth, including you. Justin Bieber, Celine Dion, Pope John Paul II, even Steve Jobs were almost victims of abortion. Could we imagine a world without the technological advances discovered by Jobs? No matter what your point of view is, whether Pro Choice or Pro Life, the fact alone that your mother did not think you were “inconvienient” or “a financial leech” should be enough to make you Pro Life. Of course it isn’t always this simple, but no matter what, you’re here. Count yourself lucky that you were given the right to life. Now, why is it just that you get to breathe the same air as I, yet millions of abortions are occuring each year? Let me rephrase that. Why is it that you live and say you are Pro Choice when there are milliions of babies, innocent lives killed each year? No matter how many times you say it isn’t viable therefore it doesn’t have a right to life doesn’t change that it is indeed a life. Someone (Pro Choice obviously) brought up to me the point that bacteria is life. Why do we get to use Life begins at conception, to which some may argue that personhood, although, begins when the fetus becomes “viable”, or able to survive outside the womb. No matter what you label this innocent life, it is a life none the less. Are you giving it a label to convince me killing the fetus is not wrong, or are you convincing yourself? This is a mostly ethical point of view of abortion. If a women is pregnant, she should accept the resposibility of having the child and if she doesn’t want the child, to give it up for adoption. You say it is your right to have control over your body, but where was that control when the child was conceived? As for rape, well, I have a story to convey the ability to love that
In order for the pro-life argument to be valid, it must have both a true premise and true conclusion. It falls short of validity by assuming that a fetus up to 22 weeks old is a person, and has its own rights independent of its host, or what we often refer to as its mother. First we must recognize the subtle, yet extremely important distinction between a human being and a person. It is obvious that a fetus is a member of the human ...
Opinions, views and emotions run high and passion is their fuel. Pro-Choice activists declare it is a woman’s right to choose what she does with her own body. The biology versus medical definitions proclaim that an embryo is not yet a human life; as conception begins two to three weeks after implantation occurs, a heartbeat is heard, and a the embryo can sustain life outside of the womb. The laws vary from state to state and in our home state of Texas political parties clash so hard the state shakes with a jolt felt across the country. Arguments weigh in from all over the globe against abortion and none more prevalent that of churches all over the world. For Pro-Life activists, there is no middle ground; human life begins at the moment of conception.
I believe that there in so way of knowing specifically when human life begins. I think people just go by their own personal opinions or by their religious belief. “Human life is a continuum---sperm and eggs are also alive, and represent potential human beings, but virtually all sperm and eggs are wasted. Also, two-thirds of human conceptions are spontaneously aborted by nature” (About Abortion, 1988). My least favorite phrase to hear from pro-life supporters is that abortion is the murdering of a person. Personhood is not a biological fact, and I know this. It cannot be proven, it is not a certainty, and it is not a fact. Abortion actually has positive benefits on a woman’s health and life. When people say that the fetus has rights too, I get what they are saying, but if fetal rights were protected in the law then women 's bodies, health and rights would be subordinated to the defense of embryos. The legal consequences of this kind of a law would be disastrous. The best way to protect the fetus is to endorse the health and well-being of the
One of the biggest issue of abortion goes back to the controversial question of when human life actually begins. Many people will often argue that a fetus is a living being from the moment of conception and feel that it deserves the same legal protections as an adult, therefore making it immoral to kill it. Just like in our court system, we would not put an innocent person on death penalty. The fetus has done nothing wrong and has the right to live. As the editor of Christianity Today wrote, "abortion is one of those monumental issues of justice that comes along once in a lifetime. It is violence against children, a hideous act of poisoning or dismembering tiny bodies, then dumping them in a landfill or garbage disposal." On the other hand, those who are for abortion say that a fetus is only a "potential human being." The advocates for legal abortions want the mother to choose whether she keeps the baby or kills it, and the rights of a mother supersede the rights of a baby. John M. Sw...
Abortion is a hot topic and a significant topic for many people Countless amount of people feel aborting or killing an unwanted child should be against the law. Many do not know what abortion is, why people choose to get abortions, the different between pro-life and pro-choice, and the laws in place of abortion. The decision to have an abortion is a personal choice and responsibility of the woman.
Each day throughout our world, medical professionals suction thousands of babies from their mothers’ wombs through a procedure called abortion. The law protects and provides consent to both the mother and the medical professionals for these procedures. However, the babies seemingly have no right to protection or life themselves because of the argument regarding when a fetus is determined be human and have life. Pro-life author, Sarah Terzo, in a LifeSiteNews.com article, relays the following testimony supporting this from a medical student upon witnessing his first abortion, “Rejected by their mothers and regarded as medical waste by their killers, society allows these babies to die silently, with no recognition or acknowledgment of their humanity” (Terzo).
Over years and years of constant, back-and-forth debate, there are many people who strongly support as well as many who strongly oppose abortion. Those who state that abortion should be legalized, a lot of the time, claim that it is the mother’s body so it then is her ultimate choice whether or not she should go through with aborting her unborn baby. In contrast, those who oppose the procedures and very idea of abortion claim it is inhumane, plain murder and that the mother can go through many consequences in undergoing the abortion procedures as well as other arguments. In an article I found off of the website Mic.com titled “Yes, I’m Pro-Abortion”, writer Lauren Rankin explains her position on the abortion controversy.
Websters dictionary defines abortion as “:a medical procedure used to end a pregnancy and cause the death of the fetus. (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/abortion) Abortion is wrong and should be abolished. If we kill criminals for killing people why dont we kill people for killing babies? Abortion should not be allowed for any reason in todays society because its like killing a person killing is wrong everyone can agree on this. I am going to tell you why abortion should be illegal in the united States and especialy everywhere
Thesis : The United States of America should adopt the law that allows abortion clinics to be regulatively open, operated, and accessible to women at large numbers; or otherwise an abortion is to be included and performed in hospital.
Who and what has a right to life is a question most would not know how to answer or would ignore. The topic of abortion which is the termination of a fetus, and Infanticide that is the killing of a baby within a year of birth, are complicated. Michael Tooley in his essay “Abortion and Infanticide” argues that abortion and infanticide are permissible. His main argument is that infants do not have a right to life because they do not have a sense of self. In his essay he writes “Since it is virtually certain that an infant at such a stage of its development does not possess the concept of a continuing self, and thus does not possess a serious right to life, there is excellent reason to believe that infanticide is morally permissible in most cases where it is otherwise desirable.
...ct potential life at conception, and because of this there is absolutely no way I could ever be in favor of abortion. Abortion is murder, the only exception I can think of would be if the mother’s life was at risk, but besides that, I don’t see how allowing abortion is enhancing women’s rights. Citizens are supposed to be protected by the state, so why are these unborn children being deprived of this protection? According to the website lifenews.com 1.2 million babies dies every year from abortion. These statistics left me in shock and feeling very upset about the current state of affairs. I’m tired of hearing all these argument that try to justify abortion, to me, none of them are valid. I think people should really consider looking deeper into this topic, if they did perhaps they would come to realize that abortion is an inhumane procedure that should be illegal.
The murder of innocents or, a woman’s right to choose; the Pro-Life/ Pro-Choice Debate, Which side are you on? The issue of abortion has been a topic of interest not only in the medical world but also in the political and religious worlds as well. The pro-life argument states that at conception the fetus is a baby and terminating it is taking a life. The pro-choice argument states that the unborn fetus, not baby, is just a blob of tissue and your terminating a pregnancy not a child. Both sides of the argument will be discussed in this essay along with the views of the church, politicians, women who have had abortion, and even a women who use to worked for Planned Parenthood.
Many people try to justify their actions for abortions, insisting that it is in the best interests of the child. The reasons women have abortions are not simple and can be difficult to understand, they can cover a broad range from rape, deformity, not being able to provide for the child, in another relationship, or unplanned pregnancy. Some women state, “I may not be able to provide it with a good life” to “It was bad timing and I can’t support a child right now”. In the case of rape it’s not the baby’s fault, instead of punishing the criminal it is giving the ultimate sentence to the child, the capital punishment death. “The circumstances of a preborn child's creation should not modify, let alone negate, his or her right to life. In other words, the preborn baby has a right to life regardless of the circumstances under which he or she w...
Abortion is a very controversial issue in our society. However, people tend to feel differently about abortions for rape victims. The contriversy over the abortion issue is that if a woman is responsible enough to go through the actions to become pregnant, she should be able to have the child. Churches believe that abortion is murder. However, if a woman is raped, she did not give her consent to have sexual intercourse with the offender. According to Schuman and Scott, although there are many people that have mixed feelings about abortion, in other words they believe that it is okay at some times, but at other times they feel that it is wrong, the most extreme pro-life people still believe that abortion is wrong “when pregnancy results from rape or incest.” (Schuman and Scott 786) In these situations, however, pro-choice believe that women have as much right to choose what happens to their body. According to Kimmel, in some states abortion is only legal in “cases of rape or of a threat to the mother’s health” (Kimmel 255).
What if I told you that right now someone was choosing your fate whether you should live or die? And what if I told you that there was nothing you could say and nothing you could do to change their mind? Ladies and gentlemen there are thousands of children in that very position at this very moment right now someone is choosing life or death for child they've never even met before that someone is their mother and that choice is abortion. Abortion means ending a pregnancy so that it does not result in the birth of a child but it doesn’t matter how you say it, abortion is basically taking a life. Approximately more than 40 million abortions take place in the world every year since 1973. That is 40 million innocent beings being killed, taken away the chance to live a life full of their own of endless opportunities.
