Haunted Alcatraz: There’s something about supernatural places that catch people’s eyes. Many people were killed there by either themselves, by others, or natural causes. Also, many people see the ghosts of the dead soldiers and past people who have died in Alcatraz. Alcatraz is a haunted and spooky place.
Al Capone once said about Alcatraz " Don't mistake my kindness for weakness, I am kind to everyone, but when someone is unkind to me, weak is not what you are going to remember me about." One of the most dreaded prisons in America was Alcatraz, it was built on an island in the San Francisco Bay. Alcatraz was made for the United States most dangerous and difficult people during its years of being operated. Even though Alcatraz was built as a top end prison it was possible to escape, however it seemed prisoners never made it off the island alive.
Aristotle is a very citable man when it comes to the way we think today. His rhetoric techniques are still being used in today's society. The Neo-Aristotelian Criticism is three different appeals of persuasion. This is ethos, pathos and logos, which makes one heck of a convincing argument. Ethos gives credibility, pathos shows emotion and logos uses words. In the text, Letter from Birmingham Jail, we find many examples of the criticism. Martin Luther King Jr. is writing a letter from inside the jail of Birmingham in April of 1963. This letter King wrote was in response to a letter he received from the religious leaders after King is making a stand against the racial issues in Alabama. These leaders stand firm in their letter when they say that when rights are being denied, they should be handled in the courts with negotiations and not in the streets. The authorities have placed Martin Luther King Jr. against his own will after his demonstration of desegregation. While incarcerated, King managed to find anything and everything to write this letter that is now famous for being a link to the end of public racism all over the nation. The content of the letter is filled with appeals of ethos, pathos and logos, which is necessary to make a strong argument.

Political prisoners and criminals alike were subject to brutal conditions in the Soviet gulags at Kolyma in the 20th century. In Varlam Shalamov’s Kolyma Tales, the stories of many different prisoners are told and much is revealed about how humans react under these pressures, both naturally and socially. Being in an extreme environment not only takes a toll on one’s physical well-being, but on one’s mental and emotional state as well. The stories show that humans can be reduced to a fragile, animalistic state while in the Kolyma work camps because the extreme conditions force many men to focus solely on self-preservation.
La Catedral was nothing compared to a jail, it was more like a luxury mansion, but what less could be expected from the biggest drug lord in history. According to Sean Cunningham Escobar had negotiated with the government, so that he would live as a free man within the jail boundaries, Pablo Escobar prohibited the Colombian National Police to be near his luxury prison within a 12-mile radius. “Indeed, Escobar carefully planned virtually every aspect of the prison…insisting on a lush mountainside location to allow him a great view-particularly of potential attackers. Thanks to the fog surrounding it and the location’s steep topography, it made air assaults difficult if not impossible (Cunningham).” Escobar’s power was off the charts. His
Ego is that which constitutes the essential identity of a human being. It is defined as the “I” or self of any person; a person that is able to think, feel, will, but perhaps most importantly- reason. The Palace of Corrective Detention has no guards and the locks are old. The convicted, or lack, thereof, do not ever try to escape. From the beginning, the government of Anthem perpetuates its ideology to its citizens. Because of this fact, the citizens never learn of what the Council forbids them to know. In essence, these criminals in the Palace of Corrective Detention are never able to conceive the notion or concept of escape. The people in the totalitarian world of Anthem have no ego- they cannot begin to fathom escape, for the true prison they are trapped in is their own mind. The prisoners are a manifestation of the fact that in the collectivist society, one cannot accomplish anything without the permission of another. The prisoners have been brought up by the system that controls them in the broadest sense. Hence, the prisoners are trapped within themselves. The Palace of Corrective Detention, to a certain extent, represents the mind of the prisoners. The binds that hold down the prisoners at the Palace of Corrective Detention are not physical restraints, but psychological ones.

Alcatraz Island, an island located in San Francisco Bay in San Francisco, California, has held many roles since its discovery. Alcatraz Island has served as a military prison, federal penitentiary, meeting site for Native Americans, and it is currently a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Have you ever wondered what happens behind prison doors? Prisons are defined as a correctional institution where persons are confined while on trial or for punishment. A prison is also referred to a place of detention. Embodiment of the United States is a concrete power under the Constitution of the United States, which means that prisons are under authority of both the federal and state governments. Different United State prisons contain different prisoners based on the crime or felony committed. Security levels range from minimum-security prisoners to Supermax facilities that house the more dangerous criminals. Dangerous criminals are usually sent to the state prison and less serious offences such as misdemeanors are sent to the local county or city jails to serve short terms of confinement. Prisons are located at the national, state, and local levels that each confines a number of people. At each prison level, a variety of programs are offered to help the prisoners and teach them how to act properly in today’s society. More happens behind the prison doors then the United States leads the population to see.
There is a place out in the middle of an ocean that held some of the most famous prisoners in U.S. history. This place is called Alcatraz. Many people have wondered why it is so remote. It is remote because the Justice Department didn’t want anyone to escape and it far enough away from the shore that prisoners wouldn’t be able to reach it, or so they thought. The island was chosen as the location for the prison due to its remoteness. Alcatraz was not always a maximum security prison. It was renovated despite much opposition in order to become one. Alcatraz is also called a state, or federal, penitentiary prison: which means that it is a prison that is upheld by a United States state and where people condemned of severe crimes are held. The
