Generally speaking, books in print format will be around for quite some time. Books still lead as the primary reading source for readers versus digital versions. Although, these reports revealed that books in print are still favored, e-books are increasing in their popularity (Zickuhr and Rainie). Furthermore, physical booklovers should not panic yet. On the other hand, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and bound journals are declining. For example, many libraries are opting for digital versions of the above due to cost reduction, space, and the speedy retrieval of research information provided by digital databases. In addition, print forms such as newspapers and magazines are also in major trouble. With the rise of environment preservation, cost, time, and social media, the way news is delivered is changing immensely. Print media still remains the long time competitor to digital media, but this will change over time. Much of this change depends on the public’s interest and how much more innovators and visionaries can keep generating new ideas to preserve that interest.
