The purpose of being a leader is to capture a group of people, who have the same beliefs, and make a change to what is right vs. what is wrong. There are components to being a strong and powerful leader. Sure, everyone has an opinion, but do they carry the right qualities to lead? The requirements are simple and cannot be purchased or even or wished for. Either the person has it, or they do not. In order to draw a crowd, they must be given something to look at. Confidence and even persuasion are just two of the qualifications to being a leader.
What makes a leader want to lead? Without a purpose, then there would be no difference between the leader and the opposing team. If everyone agreed on the same things, what would one person a leader.

and Gandhi, stood for similar things but also had some of the same qualities. A leader cannot lead without confidence. Confidence is one of the key traits a leader must have in order to connect to their audience and make them want to follow. When a leader is confident, it is visible through every aspect: their walk, their posture, their tone, and even their appearance. Being confident not only makes the leader feel important, but whoever is listening to them also feels that they are in the presence of something powerful. Whether they are delivering a speech amongst a crowd or just five people, the confidence in their voice must me notable and intriguing to capture the audience. There are no “soft” spoken leaders because softness does not grab a person and yank them away from everything that is going on around them. A strong, powerful tone falls hand in hand with confidence. Leaders stand tall when they are in public and even in their own homes because they have to give off the impression that they are firm in their beliefs. Chest out, shoulders up, and firm voices are the aspects of confidence. There has to be a “want” before there is a …show more content…
In order to be a leader, there has to be followers. Without a persuasive leader, there will be no followers because their arguments are too weak. A leader cannot lead with saying, “agree with me because I am right.” No, they have to show what they feel, act on their beliefs, and in the middle of all of that, they have to persuade the audience. In order to be persuasive, the leader has to have a strong belief that they will halt to no man’s command. Enthusiasm, knowledge, empathy, and even consistency are characteristics of a persuasive individual. Persuading is not all in the words used, but more in how they ARE used. When attempting to persuade someone, get to their level. If the object is to get a group of Kindergarteners to clean their cubie-holes out, one would not say, “Excuse me ma’am’s and sirs, will you please unburden your cubicles by ridding them of any excess materials that are unintended for further purpose.” It would make more sense to them if It was said as so, “Alright kids, lets clean out our cubies and throw away all the things that we do not need anymore” and maybe throw in a prize for the first one done. It is all in how the leader delivers their argument to the crowd they are trying to capture. With the right tone and word choices, it can be easy to get someone on to the other
Leaders are meant to bring up loyal followers who can assume the lead if they are called to do so. A major driving force for leadership is a mutually agreed upon goal. This allows a smoother relationship between all parties involved because they are all working towards the same outcome. Leadership is not a position; it is a way one conducts himself. With that being said, there are times when a leader needs to function as a follower. A leader must be able to adjust accordingly to different situations, and be whatever is called for in the moment. Leaders and Followers feed off of each
On the other hand, a leader is a person who influences a group of people in order to achieve certain goal. According to Oliver, (2006), leader is an individual who has an ability to demonstrate a specific set of role of behaviours in order to influence the others behaviours and attitudes. There three factor or keys that necessary to obtain a goal, which are the person, people, and purpose. Figure 1 below shows the relationship between the three factors needed to achieve the goal.
A leader is described as a person who guides others and has authority and influence over others. They work to influence others into meeting certain goals. There is no right or wrong definition of a leader and there is no recipe that ensures effective leadership. Successful leaders have a good balance of vision, influence, and power. Leaders gain their authority from their ability to influence others to get the work done; because of this, anyone has the potential to be a leader. (Finkelman. 2012, p15)
In order for a leader to be a leader, he/she must begin with the assumption that you are the one who matters most. As a leader you have to possess that level of confidence in yourself that you are capable of leading yourself “before you can lead others”. And when you develop this belief then you are better able to affirmatively influence “on others”. A leader needs to “believe” in himself and have the confidence that whatever you say will excite and what you do can motivate others. You must be optimistic about what you do, to have some relevance to being in existence.
To be a good leader you must be strong-minded, but more importantly you have to be intelligent. Someone who is smart can back up his or her statements with fact. If someone is intelligent people are more likely to listen to their ideas before someone who is less intelligent. If one is intelligent they have the ability to instruct a group properly. And if one is intelligent they can organize all of the groups projects better the a less intelligent person.
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
There are many different ideas about what it means to be a good leader and what the leadership means. In a simple explanation, leadership is a technique that an individual influence a group of people to achieve a common goal. A good leader can be a supervisor, manager or a business owner. Leaders are people who have expertise in achieving goals, no matter what their job titles are. Leadership is about coping with change. In a modern age we live, especially in the twentieth century, “more companies are looking for people with great leadership skills” because they can solve problems (2015, P. 13). In my idea a good leader has a vision and motivation to a team so that they can work together toward achieving
To inspire and influence others, a leader must possess many skills and abilities. As motivational speaker Peter Northouse, states, “a leader should be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant” (Northouse, 2013) Moving an entire group of individuals toward a singular goal is a considerable undertaking. Without effective communication skills and a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished, one will feel like they are trying to herd cats rather than leading.
To be a leader you need to be able to inspire others, get people motivated, and set an example to other people. A leader needs to do all of these because if one of these aspects fails people don’t look at the leader...
Self-confidence is one of the most important qualities that determine a good leader. Self-confidence is the belief in oneself and of one’s powers and abilities. It is the attitude that people possess that allows them to have positive views and to trust their own abilities. Self-confidence is an extremely important attribute to have. Leadership is all about having the confidence to make decisions. If they are afraid to make and commit to their decisions, all of the communication and authority they have will make no difference. They need to guts to motivate others, and if they waver even slightly, their followers will start to doubt them. An example of leaders having self-confidence is the students at school who organized their own clubs. They have the courage to pitch new ideas, and are not afraid to talk to other students about it. Teachers are natural born leaders. Everyday, they have to face hundreds of students to lead them onto the correct path through learning. Without self-confidence, they will not be able to do their job.
What is a leader? When thinking of this question I feel like you have to really know what it means to be a leader. Becoming the kind of leader that people would follow voluntarily; even if you had no title or position. –Brian Tracy. No one is born a leader, leaderships skills come from life experiences, education and employment. Everyone grows into a leader and then afterwards grow into a leadership style that will eventually begin to shape and inspire other leaders. Having a title or high above power does not make you a leader. Inspiring and providing great communication, confidence, advice, laughs, knowledge, honesty and reality. Those great skills help you become a great leader. Even with these great leadership skills, there are
Leadership, without doubt, is a significantly important function of management. It helps to aggrandize efficiency and to fulfil an organization’s goals. Leadership is the ability of a manager to induce the subordinates to work with confidence, determination, courage and zeal. It is also defined as ability to influence a group towards the realization of a goal. Leaders should have the capability of developing future visions, and to drive the organizational members to want to attain the visions. This paper states my points in which I duly believe, justifies the importance of an outstanding leader in any organization.
To inspire and influence others, a leader must have many skills and abilities. As motivational speaker Jim Rohn, states, “ the challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly.” (2010) Moving an entire group of individuals toward a singular goal is a considerable undertaking. Without effective communication skills and a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished, one will feel like they are trying to herd cats rather than leading.
Leadership is one of the most important facets in organizations. In most cases, leaders act with respect to organizational culture as well as the codes of conduct that determine the manner in which leaders relate with subordinates. Leadership entails the use of effective communication skills to get activities done in the workplace and to ensure that employees shelve their individual interests for the sake of their organizations’ shared targets. It is the role of leaders to ensure that consumers attain high quality products and services by making certain that members of their firms’ workforce are fully motivated to work effectively and utilize resources in an efficient manner (Bass, 22). With the increasingly sophisticated nature of the corporate world, leadership should not be based solely on the desire to control and coordinate affairs within the workplace, but leaders should also exhibit positive examples and continually monitor the changing trends in corporate governance to initiate the most relevant guidelines. Competitiveness can only be attained when leaders are in a position to set the right standards in their firms and coordinate affairs appropriately by understanding consumer and employee needs.
Education is a very important aspect in the life of a child. The level of success a student has in the classroom is greatly influenced by their teachers. Students, as well as their parents, depend on the teachers to guide them through their education. But who guides a teacher to perform successfully in the classroom? Principals and teachers play an important role in schools. A good relationship among school leaders and teachers is necessary and play an important role in making improvements in the school. Leadership refers to the “process in which one person successfully exerts influence over others to reach desired objectives”. (Okoji, 2015) Good leadership involves honesty, vision, confidence and commitment. It is the ability to inspire a
