Since as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be an elementary school teacher. When I was little I used to play school with my cousins, I would be the teacher and they would be the students. Becoming a teacher has always been my goal and after three years of my Bachelor of Arts degree and graduating our first few weeks in the program have flew by.

A few connections I was making during our readings, class discussions were truly discovering who am I as a teacher. One belief that I believe is teachers should be organized and prepared for class and know the course material. A sound education provided in partnership with the home and the community forms the basis for students to become healthy and caring persons, having a respect for self and others and a desire to contribute to society as productive citizens” (pg. 3) this quotation from the public school program document is very textbook definition of how students are expected to feel and come out of the schooling system. I think everyone home and community try to build up students and support them the fullest. For example Antigonish is a university town. StFX is at the heart of the community; you cannot walk to far without seeing a classmate, someone with an X-ring or Alumni. Another example is during high school hockey games we would have students, parents and friends and the community there to support our team. As a teacher I want to be the person who helps my students become confident learners and know they are supported completely through their schooling
