Management and The Body Shop
In this paper I will be taking a look at basic management functions. The approaches, and the synthesis of two views of management. I will attempt to take an overview of culture and its effect on a company.
In today's changing global environments many companies have joined the open trade policies, and existing foreign opportunities available to growing companies with positive views and socially responsible attitudes.
It all sounds like a lot to cover in a short essay so I will introduce a company that has in its short, yet very successful existence transformed through all the levels and practices mentioned above. The company is called "The Body Shop", I hope you have heard of it for that would make our journey through it's development even more enjoyable.
Management is described as the process of getting activities with and through other people. This philosophy has been so widely examined that there are literally millions of opinions and differing views on the subject. We will only be examining the functions of management where the basics of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling apply to The Body Shop. In 1976 an inexperienced Anita Roddick got tired of unsubstantiated Management and The Body

claims of the cosmetics industry that their products couldn't deliver. She decided to make a decision that would change her life forever. Anita became a manager of her own small business in Brighton England. Selling the natural secrets found throughout the world; learned from extensive travel while employed as a teacher with the U.N., she created a cottage industry of exotic personal body care products.
Planning proved to be the first big obstacle to learn in the road to efficient management. Taking care of buying from around the world for her special products had plunged Anita into a frightening and difficult role that she needed help with. Anita organized her financial burdens by taking on an investor Ian McGlinn, in turn giving him a 50 percent stake in the business.
Furthermore she sold the name The Body Shop to personal recruits, carefully lead and controlled by her own philosophies and ideals. Anita had become an ideal example of the classic top level manager taking on the responsibility of decision, communication, and information needed to project her company as a serious competitor, ready for today's gl...

Many think of cheerleading as just an activity which is nearly mindless. They do not recognize the hard work and skill that is crucial in becoming a first-class cheerleader. They believe that there is no ability or athleticism that is needed. They almost demean cheerleaders as unintelligent. They believe that cheerleaders are only out to look pretty and to entertain a crowd.
While getting all this training cheerleaders get injured yet they don’t stop cheerleading because they don’t want to let their team down or they don’t want to ruin the routine. Doctors try to point out the fact that cheerleaders get hurt as much any other sport. Sometimes their injuries are worse than those of football players. In the article Is cheerleading a sport? The American medical association think so. Dr Samantha says “Cheerleading is a leading cause of catastrophic injury in female athlete at the high school and college level” (Rose). She is saying that Cheerleaders get hurt just like in any other sport. Some of the cheerleaders won’t even know they’re hurt or they’ll know but they won’t go to the doctors. they won’t stop competing until the competition is over. Cheerleaders don’t use any kind of protection unlike many of the other sports. So if they fall while trying to do a dangerous move they could get seriously hurt. These cheerleaders challenge the limit of their body to do all the maneuvers that they have to do. Knowing these, people still believe cheerleading is not a sport. Even when cheerleaders risk getting injured to be able to
Every sport has a strategy to win. On a competitive cheerleading team there is indeed is a way to keep score, therefore a way to win. There are many different score categories that make up a total score such as difficulty, style, tumbling, stunting, dancing, and sharpness of motions. When a squad messes up or makes mistakes, judges can deduct points from the overall score to make it known that a mistake occurred. This is similar to a foul or a flag on a play. There is a maximum amount of points that you can receive, but earning a perfect score is very hard to do. In the cheerleading world, the point system that can be so close and differ so little from other teams. Scores can differ as little as a tenth of a point to one hundred points or more. There is a winner and a loser just like sports that are classified as a sport or the ones that are competed on in the Olympics. Colleges are very biased when it comes to giving out scholarships and classifying cheerleading as a sport. It is very hard to attend college on a cheerleading scholarship. Most colleges make cheerleaders pay out of pocket for being on a cheerleading team. The college squads still compete for national titles and high school cheerleading teams still compete for state titles just like any other sports team would. It is all political when it comes to college sports due to the statistics of colleges and how the athletic department divides their money. Sports that are recognized as
Because some cheerleading squads don’t compete, society thinks of it merely as a physical activity. Even though cheerleaders’ main purpose is to support other athletic activities, cheer squads whom compete, follow all physical criteria to be considered a sport. Cheerleaders put forth an incredible amount of determination. They practice tirelessly to show off their skills, with little or no recognition for their efforts. Cheerleading is a sport because it requires physical fitness, skill, dedication, and stamina. Cheerleading should be considered a sport globally.
From an outsiders perspective one may see brainless and beautiful robots, which scream and perform neat tricks. This is not the case from the inside; cheerleading is so much more than that. Many people are under the impression that cheerleading is not a sport. I am the voice of reasoning that will let you in, and I will show you that cheerleading, in fact, is a sport. Cheerleading requires much physical demand from the body just as any other sport would. Cheerleading, in general, is a team effort. There are many sides to cheerleading, which make it a versatile sport. When it comes to cheerleading there’s more to it than what meets the eye.
The first major instance that is shown in the show is the altercation between Kelly and Yorkie in the bathroom. Yorkie accuses Kelly of running away from her and Kelly dismisses the idea saying that she owes nothing to her. Yorkie then responds by saying “Maybe you should feel bad. Or at least feel something.” Both Kelly and Yorkie have had terrible experiences in the past that made them both want to look to the past for comfort. While seeking comfort in the past, they found each other, allowing them to move together towards the future. Boym states that “nostalgia is paradoxical in the sense that longing can make us more empathetic toward fellow humans” (XV), and especially for Kelly and Yorkie, it was true. Yorkie, trying to get the life that was stolen from her turned nostalgic. Kelly on the other hand went through the heartbreak of experiencing the death of both her daughter and her husband and aimed to enjoy the last few months of her life by being nostalgic. They both felt a sense of loss and by coming to San Junipero and finding each other, they completed each other. This is when the paradoxical portion kicks in. Boym states “the moment we try to repair longing with belonging, the apprehension of loss with a rediscovery of identity, we often part ways and put an end to mutual understanding” (XV). These experiences brought them together but it is also these experiences that tear
The New York Times states that cheerleading is the fastest growing girls’ sport, yet more than half of Americans do not believe it is a sport. A sport is defined as “an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature” (dictionary.com). Cheerleading at a competitive level is physically demanding and requires team work to be the best. The misconception of cheerleaders being weak, nonathletic crowd entertainers makes people believe cheerleaders are not athletes and that cheerleading is just a hobby but cheerleaders that compete at a competitive level are in fact athletes because it meets the standards of what a sport is, which includes rules and regulations, and overcoming air resistance.
The choices Romeo and Juliet make are poor, and eventually resulted in their death. Getting married, killing Tybalt, and thinking with hastyness were all poor choices that lead to both of their deaths. Once in a while making bad choices doesn’t affect someone as much, but making then many times regularly does affect one’s life. This teaches people that we must think our actions through before committing them.
The Body Shop has been successfully trading in the body care and cosmetics industry since 1976, when the first store was founded by Dame Anita Roddick in Brighton, England. It has continued to grow since, becoming an international brand that trades in over 50 countries. The brand is well known for using raw ingredients, its fair trade and for being against animal testing.
Nursing theories are the backbone of nursing. They are very important in the application of evidence-based practice (EBP). Furthermore, they help to improve not only the quality of care that we are providing to our patients but, they can also help us make better clinical decisions. The theory that I am interested in is Hildegard Peplau's theory. It is a middle range theory that focuses on interpersonal relations. This theory teaches us on how to interact with our patients so that they feel more in control of their treatment. In this paper, I will be talking about the importance of nursing, the summary of Peplau's theory, and how nurse practitioners can apply it.
When looking at Willy Loman, his character is seen to be surefire that he is a great salesman. Being good at his job is what he
Peplau's theories has laid the foundations for all who wants to build a relationship and can be seen as a guide to help with any interventions with patients. The nurse-patient relationship has been defined as an on going relationship whilst that patient needed that care. The relationship between nurse and the patient must have honesty, humility and is based on a partnership which is negotiated between them both (Peterson and Bredow 2009). Peplau (1991) describes nursing as an interpersonal process between the nurse and the client, it aims to help identify the clients problems and how to relate to them. A therapeutic relationship is a trusting relationship which is made up of 2 or more people which contribute and help towards the care of the patient (Forster 2001). To build up this trust there must be good communication between both parties. Nursing is a communicative intervention and is founded on effective communication (Nursing Planet 2011). For a relationship to build there must be a lot of time spent between two parties. A nurse-patient relationship must have time to develop so that they can be able to identify illness and ways to help meet their needs. The nurse spends more time with a patient than a doctor, and therefore has more opportunity not only to observe but also talk with and come to know the patient (Barker 2009). For a relationship to build there has to be great contributions from both Nurse and Patient, from having regular and private interaction, to be honest and congruent, to let the patient set the pace, to listen to the patients concerns and to promote the patients comfort whilst in the meeting with them. The development of the nurse-patient relationship in Mental Health is the heart to any treatment approache...

Willy Loman is a firm believer in the "American Dream:" the notion that any man can rise from humble beginnings to greatness. His particular slant on this ideal is that a man succeeds by selling his charisma, that to be well liked is the most important asset a man can have. He made a living at this for 30 years, but as he enters the reclining years of his life, people have stopped smiling back and he can no longer sell the firm's goods to support himself. His ambition was one of greatness, to work hard and to be a member of the firm; and if he could not succeed in this respect, that he should at least be well-liked and be able to sell until the day of his death: When his friends would flock from all over the country to pay their respects.
