The Holocaust
The Holocaust, what is the true depth of the word? As sad as
it may seem, it affected the lives of millions because of
the hate inside of one certain group of people, the Nazi’s.
Dehumanization is to deprive human qualities such as
individuality or compassion. Victims of the Holocaust went
through dehumanization simply to make the killing of others
psychologically easy for the Nazi’s.
Many victims of the Holocaust suffered from various
experiments which eventually led to the death. Some of the
experiments were things such as: sun lamp, internal
irrigation, hot bath, warming by body heat,
freezing/hypothermia etc. The internal irrigation system is
when, “the frozen victims would have water heated to a near
blistering temperature forcefully irrigated into the
stomach, bladder, and intestines.” (Medical Experiments of
the Holocaust and Nazi Medicine) Why would anybody perform
such horrible things on another human being? That is a
question that many people still can’t answer. It is much
more complex than it may seem. The Nazi’s wanted to make the
victims do so many degrading things that they would appear
to be subhuman. Killing somebody less than human was more
justifiable to the Nazi’s. One experiment that was conducted

The holocaust is the saddest thing I have ever heard about. With the Nazi's and other Germans blaming everything on the Jews to mass murders of the Jews and others. The Germans killed more than one million people altogether. The German leader was Adolf Hitler. So once everyone started to realize what was going on, they said, "hey jail time."
The Holocaust was a time period in history that is very important to learn about. We learn about it for many reasons, but I think the most important reason is to learn not to discriminate against other people. Not only is it very important to learn about the Holocaust, but it's also important to learn about Hitler's rise to power and how he came to make his decision of the discrimination affiliated with the Holocaust. The events and outcome of World War II and Anne Frank are very important topics, too. These topics are all factors that are associated with the overall events of the Holocaust and all back up the reason as to why we study the Holocaust.
Eighteen million Europeans went through the Nazi concentration camps. Eleven million of them died, almost half of them at Auschwitz alone.1 Concentration camps are a revolting and embarrassing part of the world’s history. There is no doubt that concentration camps are a dark and depressing topic. Despite this, it is a subject that needs to be brought out into the open. The world needs to be educated on the tragedies of the concentration camps to prevent the reoccurrence of the Holocaust. Hitler’s camps imprisoned, tortured, and killed millions of Jews for over five years. Life in the Nazi concentration camps was full of terror and death for its individual prisoners as well as the entire Jewish society.
Fuel…. Flame…. Fire…. Inferno…. Ash…. Historically, the word holocaust meant a religious rite in which an offering was completely consumed by fire. In current times the word holocaust has changed to a darker more tragic meaning and refers to more than a religious sacrifice. During World War II, a fire raged throughout Eastern Europe. Guns, bombs, and military groups did not ignite this fire. This fire burned intensely in the hearts of men -- sparked by centuries-old prejudice. One man, Adolf Hitler, took this flicker of hatred and fanned the flames. Hitler energized and stoked the embers, spreading them throughout Eastern Europe causing widespread destruction in the pursuit of a perfect Aryan nation. Although the Holocaust is measured over the course of twelve long years, it does not begin with the mass murder of innocent victims. Michael Berenbaum, a survivor of the Holocaust believes, "Age-old prejudice led to discrimination, discrimination to incarceration, incarceration to elimination" (Altman 1). Thus, the progression of prejudice in the Holocaust began as a flicker of hatred in the heart of a leader and became a blazing inferno consuming the lives of the men, women, and children who crossed its radical path.
If the “killers” of the Holocaust were not put in the situations they were in, many of them would not have committed the crimes they did; whether they were killing the Jews or just delivering the Jews to camps, they were part of the extermination of innocent people. Most of them were killing in fear, they didn’t want to be persecuted and murdered so they made it look like they were for the Nazi party. Anne Frank once said, “Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart.” I believe that this quote, which is saying that some people do bad things but that does not mean they are bad people, many are doing things out of fright, hoping it will save their lives, is very true. All But My Life by Gerda Weissmann Klein which is about a Jewish family, mainly on the little girl in the family who goes through the unimaginable during the Holocaust, popped into mind when I heard the quote. Also two short stories called “Tiengen” by Maurice Meier and “Rescuers” by Irene Opdyke came to mind when I read this quote.

Why didn't the non Jewish people fight for their friends, family, and acquaintances? If the non Jews would have collaborated then they would have had capitulate from the Nazis. Were they scared, or were they afraid that they could not do anything? Well, if enough of the non Jews had fought back they could have helped the Jews out of the Concentration camps and all of the torture that they were being put through. One reason that the non Jews should have fought back was if they were in the Jews predicament then they would want help too. The non Jews could have been triumphant. The non Jews should have had an aspiration for saving their friends. Hitler was putting them through the worst possible treatment. I know that I would want help. I would help it is the right thing to do and that the Jews have a right to believe what they want. Everybody has the right to believe what they want.
In human history, there have been few acts of psychological and physical torture viewed as being as cruel and insensitive as dehumanization. Dehumanization is the process by which a person or group of people are reduced to a subhuman level by some oppressor, and treated as an object or animal rather than a person. This process has been employed for centuries by various oppressors as a way to expedite the torture or killing of oppressed groups. Specifically, dehumanization was one of the tactics employed to carry out one of the bloodiest genocides in history: the Holocaust during World War II. Many died during this horrid epoch in history, however, some people were able to survive the horrors, whether by hiding or by managing to stay alive until their liberation. two of those people are Vladka Patel Meed and Leah Hammerstein Silverstein, both of Poland. These two women have very different survival stories although one thing that their stories have in common is taking residence in the infamous Warsaw Ghetto for a period of time.
The Holocaust was the murder and persecution of approximately 6 million Jews and many others by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. The Nazis came to power in Germany in January of 1933. The Nazis thought that the “inferior” Jews were a threat to the “racially superior” German racial community. The death camps were operated from 1941 to 1945, and many people lost their lives or were forced to work in concentration camps during these years. The story leading up to the Holocaust, how the terrible event affected people’s lives, and how it came to and end are all topics that make this historic event worth learning about.
Genocide is one of the most frightening terms one could hear, sending shivers down your spine just to hear the word. Genocide is the intent of extermination of a national, ethnical, racial or religious group. One of the best known Genocide’s to the world is known as the Holocaust. Germans exterminated over 6 million Jews in just a couple of years. Families were torn apart, and some of the worst things you could ever do to a human being were done in these times. After the Holocaust everyone said Never Again, but it has happened over and over. If we follow the steps to preventing genocides, we can stop history from repeating itself and keep the people of the world safe.
It was in December 1948, when it was approved unanimous the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide at France which became the 260th resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations. What made the leaders of the 41 States create and sign this document in which the term Genocide was legally defined? This document serves as a permanent reminder of the actions made by the Nazis and their leader Adolf Hitler during the Holocaust where more than five million of European Jews were killed. In summary I will explain what were the events that leaded the ordinary Germans kill more than six million Jews in less than five years. To achieve this goal, I will base my arguments on the Double Spiral Degeneration Model provided by Doctor Olson during the spring semester of the Comparative Genocide class.
Ghettos, concentration camps, starvation, and deaths. These people were put through everything during this terrible, grueling time. The Nazi forces were overtaking the people day by day throughout Europe. In the ghettos and concentration camps either killers or starvation took the lives of many innocent people. These people did not deserve the treatment they received in such short notice. During the Holocaust the Jewish people should have fought back against the nasty, intolerable Nazis.
