There are many different opinions regarding the idea that the United States is a Christian nation. After reading the Church book, however, I believe it is obvious that our country was not in fact founded on Christianity. Even though many religious right groups insist our laws should enforce the doctrines of Protestant Christianity. The documents written by our founding fathers say otherwise. The U.S. Constitution has no mention of Christianity or Jesus Christ, and is evidence within itself that our country was not founded as a Christian nation.
The men who founded the legislature of our country had seen first hand the difficulties that church and state partnerships could create in Europe. The consequences of this partnership are the main reason a secular government was created in the United States. During the colonial period, alliances between religion and government produced oppression and tyranny on our own shores. Many colonies, for example, had laws limiting public office positions to Trinitarian Protestants. While some colonies had officially established churches and taxed all citizens to support them. Dissenters faced many obstacles of persecution.
Many people began looking for an end to religious testing. They argued that true faith did not need or want the support of the government. These protestors were not anti-religious. In fact they believed that by allowing people their right to freedom from religion, they would eventually find themselves true Christians.

Time and time again, women have consistently been cheated when it comes to being represented fairly in literature. Throughout countless literary works, many female characters are portrayed in stereotypical and submissive roles. Three literary works that break from this trend are Edith Wharton’s Ethan Frome, Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband, and George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion. These works examine themes of beauty and marriage, and feature female characters in prominent roles. But what influenced how male and female characters are portrayed in these pieces of literature? Examining Wharton’s Ethan Frome, Wilde’s An Ideal Husband, and Shaw’s Pygmalion from a feminist perspective reveals how gender characterization, author perspectives, and gender
Privacy Preserving Data Mining (PPDM) was proposed by D. Agrawal and C. C. Agrawal [1] and by Y. Lindell and B. Pinkas [5] simultaneously. To address this problem, researchers have since proposed various solutions that fall into two broad categories based on the level of privacy protection they provide. The first category of the Secure Multiparty Computation (SMC) approach provides the strongest level of privacy; it enables mutually distrustful entities to mine their collective data without revealing anything except for what can be inferred from an entity’s own input and the output of the mining operation alone by Y. Lindell and B. Pinkas in [5], J. Vaidya and C.W.Clifton in [6]. In principle, any data mining algorithm can be implemented by using generic algorithms of SMC by O.Goldreich in [7].However, these algorithms are extraordinarily expensive in practice, and impractical for real use. To avoid the high computational cost, various solutions those are more efficient than generic SMC algorithms have been proposed for specific mining tasks. Solutions to build decision trees over the horizontally partitioned data were proposed by Y. Lindell and B. Pinkas in [5]. For vertically partitioned data, algorithms have been proposed to address the association rule mining by J. Vaidya and C.W.Clifton in [6], k-means clustering by J. Vaidya and C. Clifton in[8], and frequent pattern mining problems by A.W.C. Fu, R.C.W. Wong, and K. Wang in [9]. The work of by B. Bhattacharjee, N. Abe, K. Goldman, B. Zadrozny, V.R. Chillakuru, M.del Carpio, and C. Apte in [10] uses a secure coprocessor for privacy preserving collaborative data mining and analysis. The second category of the partial information hiding approach trades pr...
There is no doubt that the literary written by men and women is different. One source of difference is the sex. A woman is born a woman in the same sense as a man is born a man. Certainly one source of difference is biological, by virtue of which we are male and female. “A woman´s writing is always femenine” says Virginia Woolf
... order” (CITATION NEEDED). The plan also recognized the countries need for migrant workers, so it was the first set of legislation to allow a quota and a time limit for workers to have jobs within the country. In addition to migrant workers, the Martelli law was also the first of its kind in Italy to introduce some forms of visa requirements for foreigners entering the country. This was in part to show the EU that Italy could comply with the new rules, as well as show Italy’s ability to regulate who they allow into the Schengen area. One of the last major provisions of the law dealt with asylum seekers. When Italy signed the Geneva Convention in 1950, they agreed to allow asylum requests from foreigners only with in Europe, not elsewhere. With the passing of the Martelli law, anyone from outside was allowed to apply for asylum, not just those on the same continent.
Reading literature, at first, might seem like simple stories. However, in works like William Faulkner's “A Rose for Emily,” Katherine Mansfield's “Miss Brill,” and Kate Chopin's “The Storm,” the female protagonists are examples of how society has oppressive expectations of women simply because of their gender.
I have a book entitled the Faiths of the Founding Fathers. (Notice the term faith's' as opposed to faith). Many people do not realize that many of the men who are behind the establishing of America, as a nation, believed according the principles of Deism and Unitarianism rather than the Bible.
Artificial intelligence is the intelligence showed by mechanisms or software that pretends to simulate the human intelligence. It’s also the field of computer science that has the goal of creating devices that simulate the human intelligence, such as the rational ability (applying rules based on logic to an available data so we can reach a conclusion), learning (learn with mistakes and solutions in a way to react more efficiently in the future), recognize patterns (such as visual and sensory patterns and behavior patterns) and inference (capacity of applying reasoning in situations of everyday life).
Artificial intelligence, or AI, is a field of computer science that attempts to simulate characteristics of human intelligence or senses. These include learning, reasoning, and adapting. This field studies the designs of intelligent agents, or a system that acts intelligibly. The term artificial intelligence is confusing and misleading however. Artificial intelligence is still a form of intelligence, but perhaps “synthetic intelligence” is a better name because it is not natural intelligence. This is why the name “computational intelligence”, or CI, is sometimes preferred. Artificial intelligence is used in many objects that we use everyday: cars, microwaves, personal computers, and videogames.
As a female writer, Cixous advocates for women to write about themselves and for themselves. As they bring their reflections into the public domain, they become discoverable and able to “break up” antifeminist ideas and force “the unforeseeable” onto readers, reconstructing powerful narratives about women and progressing representations they can be proud of (Cixous 242). Therefore, women must write herself “into text and into history by her own movement” and bring female power into writing in which they “have been driven away” by male writers (Cixous 242). Likewise, Cixous claims that because “[men] don’t like the true texts of women, female-sexed texts […] “women should only write women. And man, man” (Cixous 244). Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein
Throughout literature, authors employ a variety of strategies to highlight the central message being conveyed to the audience. Analyzing pieces of literature through the gender critics lens accentuates what the author believes to be masculine or feminine and that society and culture determines the gender responsibility of an individual. In the classic fairytale Little Red Riding Hood, the gender strategies appear through the typical fragile women of the mother and the grandmother, the heartless and clever male wolf, and the naïve and vulnerable girl as little red riding hood.
In order to see how artificial intelligence plays a role on today’s society, I believe it is important to dispel any misconceptions about what artificial intelligence is. Artificial intelligence has been defined many different ways, but the commonality between all of them is that artificial intelligence theory and development of computer systems that are able to perform tasks that would normally require a human intelligence such as decision making, visual recognition, or speech recognition. However, human intelligence is a very ambiguous term. I believe there are three main attributes an artificial intelligence system has that makes it representative of human intelligence (Source 1). The first is problem solving, the ability to look ahead several steps in the decision making process and being able to choose the best solution (Source 1). The second is the representation of knowledge (Source 1). While knowledge is usually gained through experience or education, intelligent agents could very well possibly have a different form of knowledge. Access to the internet, the la...
“Girls wear jeans and cut their hair short and wear shirts and boots because it is okay to be a boy; for a girl it is like promotion. But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading, according to you, because secretly you believe that being a girl is degrading” (McEwan 55-56). Throughout the history of literature women have been viewed as inferior to men, but as time has progressed the idealistic views of how women perceive themselves has changed. In earlier literature women took the role of being the “housewife” or the household caretaker for the family while the men provided for the family. Women were hardly mentioned in the workforce and always held a spot under their husband’s wing. Women were viewed as a calm and caring character in many stories, poems, and novels in the early time period of literature. During the early time period of literature, women who opposed the common role were often times put to shame or viewed as rebels. As literature progresses through the decades and centuries, very little, but noticeable change begins to appear in perspective to the common role of women. Women were more often seen as a main character in a story setting as the literary period advanced. Around the nineteenth century women were beginning to break away from the social norms of society. Society had created a subservient role for women, which did not allow women to stand up for what they believe in. As the role of women in literature evolves, so does their views on the workforce environment and their own independence. Throughout the history of the world, British, and American literature, women have evolved to become more independent, self-reliant, and have learned to emphasize their self-worth.
The Church and the government have been two of the strongest influences on mankind for many centuries. Both powers have received great faithfulness from citizens, yet both receive harsh criticism as well. Many people view these two factions as entirely separate entities; however, this ideology is a fallacy. The government and the Church are two independent institutions that cannot be separated; rather, they must work in conjunction to ensure the happiness of the American people.
Many female writers see themselves as advocates for other creative females to help find their voice as a woman. Although this may be true, writer Virginia Woolf made her life mission to help women find their voice as a writer, no gender attached. She believed women had the creativity and power to write, not better than men, but as equals. Yet throughout history, women have been neglected in a sense, and Woolf attempted to find them. In her essay, A Room of One’s Own, she focuses on what is meant by connecting the terms, women and fiction. Woolf divided this thought into three categories: what women are like throughout history, women and the fiction they write, and women and the fiction written about them. When one thinks of women and fiction, what they think of; Woolf tried to answer this question through the discovery of the female within literature in her writing.
The definition of intelligence is quite hard as there are many different aspects including it like emotional, social, logical, creative and practical. Intelligence can be described as the ability to perceive and retain information and apply it to all instances of knowledge, creating understandable modules of any size or complexity. This is also the skill that makes us humans so much different from all other living species on Earth. Due to this very general mental capability we can plan, solve problems, reason, think abstractly, think of complex ideas, learn quickly and learn from experience.
