Philosophy of Teaching
Children are not required to have real jobs, but they are required to attend school everyday. A teacher’s job is to show children how to make special use of their time and value their educational opportunities. Students do not get paid for their eight a.m. to three p.m. job, but they will be rewarded for the work that they put in. Teachers will only be truly happy and successful if they are dedicated to working hard and providing a positive attitude for their students. The real reward will be the success of their students and the growth of their knowledge of the world around them.
I have observed that becoming a teacher is different from training or studying for any other job. Teachers bring their work home with them, both literally and figuratively. All teachers need to bring home papers to grade and lesson plans to work on; yet, becoming a real teacher means taking the job more seriously. Teachers are mentors who tackle little problems that a particular student faces. Teachers deal with the challenges of making lessons fun, creative, and effective. Being a compassionate, caring teacher is a difficult task because educators only have limited time to really make an impact on their students. Most classes only last about forty minutes each day. However, a teacher can make a lifelong impact on the students if he or she devotes energy and creativity for the benefit of the students.
I do not think that there is any one teacher who is perf...
Throughout the history of literature, a great deal of authors has tried to reveal a clear understanding of the American Dream. Whether it is possible to achieve lies all in the character the author portrays. The Great Gatsby and The Catcher in the Rye stand as prime examples of this. F. Scott Fitzgerald and J.D. Salinger, the authors of these titles, respectively, fashion flawed characters, Jay Gatsby and Holden Caulfield, with one vital desire: the longing to gain what they can’t have; acceptance and the feeling of belonging. Each retaining characteristics that shows their differences and similarities in opinion of the world around them.
The term American Dream was first coined by James T. Arthur in his 1931 novel The Epic of America, and has since become a famous phrase used widely to discuss the opportunities one is granted in the United States. However, this one simple phrase can be perceived differently among each individual. For some, the American Dream is a symbol of hope for the future, while for others it can be a reminder of failures in the past that set them back from achieving their dreams. In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and the play Death of Salesman by Arthur Miller the main characters, Jay Gatsby and Willy Loman, strive to achieve their own perception of the American Dream. The American Dream can be described as working hard in the pursuit
The American dream is something many people strive to achieve. In many ways, the “American dream” itself, is inevitably impossible to achieve fully. In both stories, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller both main characters strive to achieve the American dream, but ultimately fail. There are both similarities and differences in how they define success for themselves, the way in which they both chose to achieve their dreams, and finally the result in attempting to achieve their dreams.
The novel “The Great Gatsby” reveals the reader the failure of the American dream values and the consequences when living that kind of life. The reader can see that the money and wealth are the synonyms of the happiness in this novel. However, it is a veracious fact that people cannot buy happiness for money. James Gatz, who made himself in pursuit of stability in wealth, is the example of a crash of the American dream canons. Gatsby, this name he took to conquer the world, had “something gorgeous about him, some heightened sensitivity to the promises of life” (Fitzgerald 2). The man who has reached a high socioeconomic status does not get blessed with happiness and peace of heart, but, on the contrary, looses his own face and spiritual world values. Father of deceased Gatsby shows Nick Caraway, the narrator of the story, the list of “improving his mind” practices that indicated the strong features of Gatsby personality. ”It just shows you, don’t it” claims his father, beyond doubt, prejudiced of his sons dignities (Fitzgerald 173). Gatsby is described as a war hero, which also can attest to his high moral
Jay Gatsby is a self-made man who started out as a poor farm boy with nothing more than some resolves to make his dreams come true. He became blinded by his love for Daisy and luxurious possessions, and was unable to realize that he was losing himself in the process. Gatsby’s life, although filled with hundreds strangers, is extremely lonely. Gatsby had more acquaintances than most people could ever imagine, but none of them were true friends, as evident by his funeral comprised of four people: Nick, Gatsby’s father, Owl Eyes, and the minister. Although Gatsby did reach the dream he had thought he wanted, he in no way achieved the true American Dream. F. Scott Fitzgerald uses Gatsby’s story to demonstrate the corruption of the American Dream in the 1920s as a result of an over indulgent America who had lost all sense of morality.
After my first few months of college, I realized I enjoy being a college student much more than I enjoyed being a high school student. However, the transition between the two extremely diverse worlds, was challenging at first, I found out how to overcome it. Originally, I couldn’t realize how different the two were, but as time went on, I was about to notice the differences. Not everyone is able to be aware of the many similarities and difference. Some differences include: cost, amount of freedom, and reasons why people are there. On the other hand, both high school and college have similar class structure and both require time management. The better prepared a student is to challenged with these many similarities and differences, the more
With so many students and so many faces in each class, college professors don’t personally get to know their students. A professor wouldn’t even notice if a student didn’t attend class one day, or if that person was taking that class at all. In big classes, the professor won’t even know a students’ name by the last day of class. In high school, teachers get to know their students on a first and last name basis within at least the first couple of weeks. High School teachers know each students personality, study habits, and grades by the end of each y...
High school, along with college are two major stepping stones in a person’s life. Many individuals are able to make the transitions from high school to college pretty easily, while there are others that find the transition into college to be somewhat challenging and hard to adjust to. When I made the jump from high school to college, I found that there are vast differences between the two, and both had very diverse environments. I found the key differences concerning high school and college to be the level of academic responsibilities, time management and scheduling, as well as the methods learning to be the main differences.
High school and college are very dissimilar. There are the main differences and then there are differences that aren't very distinct. These differences include homework, teacher-student relationships, and attendance policies. In this paper I will discuss the major and minor differences between high school and college. I will also explain why responsibility is a very important factor in high school and college.
Schooling is a very important aspect in our lives and one must go through many steps to gain a higher education. Two of these steps are high school and college. Although high school and college students aim for the same goal, which is acquiring an education and graduating, the demands, expectations, and social atmosphere extremely contrast.
School plays an important role in our lives. Many people will spend more than fifteen years at school in order to get the qualifications that are required to work in a specific field. Those years are broken down into several levels, some of them being more enjoyable than others. Two very important levels that people go through are high school and college. Even though some think that these levels are almost the same, there are significant differences between them. The cost of high school is not the same as the cost of college. Also, some differences apply from an academic point of view. Typically, the social environment also differs from high school to college, which can be related to the question of freedom versus responsibility.
Many people on this earth grow up saying they would like to make a difference in this world. However, half of those people do not feel like putting in the work in order to do so. As an elementary education major, making a difference is one of the main goals. There are many benefits of becoming a teacher, and students benefit as well. In order to have many students successfully graduate from one grade to the next a teacher should be willing to put in as much work that is needed. Elementary school is where children are set up for the rest of their education. It is important to understand how to go into this career field, becoming a teacher has its own benefits, and the children are able to benefit from teachers.
It’s hours upon hours of grading tests, quizzes, essays, and much more. It’s interacting with the students, understanding how students think and learn, and most importantly, knowing how to prepare students for their future, whether it be going straight to college after graduation, to the world of work, or to the military. Being a teacher is caring for kids and students and pushing each child to be the best person he or she can be. ¨… one theme runs consistently throughout every great teacher’s career: their job does not end with the school day… Great teachers motivate, inspire and lead. They interact with their community to affect positive change through their students and themselves. Great teachers change lives,” (“What Does a Teacher
Teaching is a daunting task that I do not intend to take lightly. Becoming a teacher has been a dream of mine for several years. I always knew that teaching would be the career for me, especially when I began working in the school system as a substitute secretary. I loved working in the school environment; coming in contact with children everyday made me realize how much I would enjoy teaching a classroom full of students.
In a society where kids must go to school up to the collegiate level, teaching is an impactful career choice. Teachers help contour the minds of future leaders of the world. Furthermore, teachers play a crucial role in guiding students to the knowledge, skills, and abilities they need to succeed in life, and teachers lead students to make informed decisions on any topic the meet in the future. As a teacher, a person must relinquish their knowledge onto students. Finally, they must prepare their students for all the obstacles they will face later in life.
