The Disaster at Chernobyl
On April 26th, 1986, operators at the Chernobyl Power Plant in Chernobyl, Ukraine, ran what they thought to be a routine safety test. But fate was not on the side of these operators. Without warning, reactor #4 became unstable, as it had been operating at a low power for a possible shutdown and the reactor’s design caused it to be unsafe at this level of power. Internal temperatures rose. Attempts to cool the system produced the opposite effect. Instantly, the nuclear core surged with power. At 1:23 p.m., the reactor exploded. The first blast ripped off the reactor's steel roof. The second blast released a large plume of radiation into the sky. Flames engulfed the building. For ten long days, fire fighters and power plant workers attempted to overcome the inferno. Thirty-one of them died of radiation poisoning. Chernobyl was the worst nuclear disaster in history. It unleashed radiation hundreds of times greater than the atomic bombs exploded over Japan during World War II. [1]
Initially the Soviet Government kept the accident at Chernobyl a secret. Because radiation lacks smell or taste, and is invisible, people carried on with their daily lives, all the while inhaling radioactive particles. It took ten days for the Soviet government to evacuate the contaminated areas. Particles fell into the crops and plants of the people. Cows ate grass that had been contaminated by the nuclear particles causing the dairy produ...
On Dec.7.1941 Japan executed their plan to attack the US, Philippines, Wake island, Guam, Malaya, Thailand, Shanghai, and Midway. The United States was not prepared for the attack that the japanese had been planning for months, the japanese knew the procedure in and out.In all, the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor crippled or destroyed nearly twenty American ships and more than three hundred airplanes. With a quick response back, by the next day congress had signed off on Roosevelt’s declaration of war. Three days after Japan and her
...ip, and moved it against the quays. It heaved up the port side, and you could feel the decks-the compartments-being penetrated…You began to get afraid. I don’t know about other people, but I though “Geez I might get killed”.” (Remembering Pearl Harbor page 16). The attack by Japan was a smart tactical move on the United States. It was a two-fold plan, first If they attacked the US, they would draw attention from what was happening in Europe and all sources would be directed to the west half of the US. Second since the attack was so quick and unexpected the US was caught off guard. Since Japan attacked the largest base in the Pacific, Japan believed they would be able to cripple the US defenses for a while. “The Japanese did not realize that the attack on Dec. 7, 1941 would be a rallying cry for the Americans that had not enlisted to enlist in troops.” (Hampton)
On the day of the attack, Japan succeeded with their plan of “surprise.” The United States had “ no defenses and many of their guns were not loaded” (Keegan 255). Although they saw many aircrafts approaching through the radar that was installed at the harbor, the Americans thought nothing of it (Keegan 254). Because of the unexpected Japanese move, the United States suffered greatly on December 7, 1941; Japan successfully sank and damaged 18 US ships, 8 battleships, and 180 planes. In addition, thousands of innocent Americans lost their lives that day, and many homes were completely destroyed. Once Yamamoto heard the results of the attack, he was thrilled; Japan successfully carried out their long scheduled attack (Axelrod 152). However, his joy soon ended as on December 8, the day after the bombing, when Roosevelt declared war against Japan (Axelrod 149).
Not getting sufficient amount of vitamin B12 increases abnormal cholesterol levels. Such an increase blocks blood flow to the heart. This weakens the heart and puts it at a risk of heart attack or stroke.
Throughout his life... was a man self-haunted, unable to escape from his own drama, unable to find any window that would not give him back the image of himself. Even the mistress of his most passionate love-verses, who must (one supposes) have been a real person, remains for him a mere abstraction of sex: a thing given. He does not see her --does not apparently want to see her; for it is not of her that he writes, but of his relation to her; not of love, but of himself loving.
Chernobyl was the greatest nuclear disaster of the 20th century. On April 26th, 1986, one of four nuclear reactors located in the Soviet Union melted down and contaminated a vast area of Eastern Europe. The meltdown, a result of human error, lapsed safety precautions, and lack of a containment vessel, was barely contained by dropping sand and releasing huge amounts of deadly radioactive isotopes into the atmosphere. The resulting contamination killed or injured hundreds of thousands of people and devastated the environment. The affects of this accident are still being felt today and will be felt for generations to come.
Vitamin B12 is a powerhouse, it helps make DNA, nerve and blood cells and is crucial for a healthy brain and immune system. It is estimated that up to 15% of people don't get enough of this essential nutrient.
On December 7, 1941 twenty American naval vessels were destroyed, 2,000 American soldiers and sailors died, and about 1,000 were injured. This event would forever be known as Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor was an incident in American history where the Japanese bombed a naval base in Oahu, Hawaii. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor because they feared the United States would plan a naval attack on them due to their new acquired territories such as: Philippines, Guam, America Samoa and other small islands. The Japanese thought they could do a swift first strike against the united pacific fleet and cripple America’s ability to respond. By delaying America’s ability to respond they were hoping to gain the territories and control most of the Pacific Rim.
Now I’m going to introduce how to play this creepy game. First you need some supplies. You need a voodoo doll which has to look like a human, then you need a white rice, hair, nail, red thread, salt water, needle and any sharp objects like knife and scissors. In addition hairs and nails must be yours!
The 13 well-identified vitamins are classified according to their ability to be absorbed in fat or water. The fat-soluble vitamins-A, D, E, and K-are generally consumed along with fat-containing foods, and because they can be stored in the body's fat, they do not have to be consumed every day. The water-soluble vitamins-the eight B vitamins and vitamin C-cannot be stored and must be consumed frequently, preferably every day (with the exception of some B vitamins, as noted below).
The plans of the Japanese Imperial Navy’s attack were straightforward. The Japanese Imperial Navy’s intention was not to assume control of the United States or even to force the evacuation and abandonment of Hawaii with the attack on Pearl Harbor. Japan had recently acquired new territories and risking immediate war with the United States meant risking these newly conquered lands. With holdings in Guam, Samoa, Philippines, and other small islands, Japan was vulnerable to an American naval attack if they were to ...
INTRODUCTION- On December 7, 1941, to the astonishment of the United States, the Navy fleet at Pearl Harbor unceremoniously attacked resulting in the immediate involvement of the United States into WWII. Although the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was unexpected and unprovoked, it is a direct result of multiple failures in military policies and procedures. Early warning signs of a pending attack would have decreased the causalities and limited the overall collateral damage at Pearl Harbor.

Pearl Harbor was a very vicious attack by the Japanese on the US. On December 7, 1941 US Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japanese fighter jets. United States had been aware of a possible attack since the 1920s; the US became more involved when the Japanese invaded Manchuria. Attack on Pearl Harbor was the beginning of something big, a bloody war between the Japanese and the United States. United States was not expecting such an event; it was such an unannounced attack on the naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. That unexpected attack on December 7, 1941 was originally just a preventive effort for keeping the US from interfering with military action the Empire of Japan was planning in Southeast Asia. Japan wanted to cripple the pacific fleet so they wouldn’t foil their plan to create a defense perimeter in the Southwest Pacific. Japanese aircraft launched two aerial attack waves sinking four US Navy battleships and damaging two other battleships. The attacks also led to a high number of deaths. There original plan was to attack all of the US aircraft carriers. The attack on Pearl Harbor resulted in US entry into World War 2.
Vitamins are essential aids in many body processes, converting food the energy, building and maintaining cells, and other functions.
