Lazy is the American
Today’s American society consists of many technological achievements. The cars we drive, the classes we take, and even the things we do in our spare time has changed due to the increasing amount of technology that is available to us. Technology is a wonderful thing to behold, but then we can look at the one thing technology has done to humans and especially Americans. Technology has created a society of many lazy people. In order to support my argument, I believe that it is imperative to answer one question in great detail. How has technology made us lazy?
Laziness has gradually increased in the past ten years. Kids no longer want to play outside. “It’s too hot?” or “Let me finish this game!” are just a couple of excuses kids make these days for staying indoors and not enjoying an outdoor activities. Air-conditioners and video games have done some extreme damage to youths and their physical activity. I am only 19 years old but I remember playing a pick-up game of baseball or wiffleball after school or during the summer in the afternoon. Kids these days have forgotten how to enjoy the outdoors. Sure there are those few kids in town who still enjoy doing such things. Hell, I still enjoy playing a game of baseball or wiffleball. But for most kids, the interest is non-existent. Kids in the 90’s grew up with new inventions such as the Playstation and the PC. Why go outside when all you need is inside? Nowadays there is a television in almost every room in many typical American families’ homes. Kids even have televisions in their rooms with their game consoles plugged in and their computer next to their bed. Our family had one TV to share and a game system was connected to it. I was forced to share...

... or shooting some hoops with mom or dad, can resolve some laziness both as a person and as a parent. Parents could also focus on helping their kids with homework or keeping up to date on their grades. This is no technological achievement that has been made to act as a parent and there shouldn’t be one. When that child grows up to be a parent, their attitude will reflect that of his parent’s, a majority of the time.
This is a society that makes excuses for our laziness. Technology has helped induce our laziness. We shouldn’t do away with technology, but we should use technology when we are lacking in time to spend being active outdoors or when we are spending time with our family. Technology should not be used for everything we do either, such as cooking, traveling, or even doing basic chores because sometimes technology hurts society more than it helps society.
The Company publishes "Modern Methods of Antiseptic Wound Treatment," which quickly becomes one of the standard teaching texts for antiseptic surgery. It helps spread the practice of sterile surgery in the U.S. and around the world.
Religion was an important part to the medieval society and the development of medieval synthesis. An important person that contributed to this was Saint Thomas Aquinas between 1225-1274. His “Summa Theologica” was an important element that influenced the synthesis. The Summa Theologica simply means theological summary. His idea presents the highest example of the medieval synthesis of faith and reason. The summary included the proof of existence of God and man. It described the relationship between the two and how a man’s reconciliation with the Divine is possible through Christ. This shows that Aquinas believed the cosmological argument that shows proofs for the existence of God and its reason. Aquinas Summa Theologica also described the nature and purpose of human being. He devoted his attention to the nature of God and its role that show relationship between God and man. Aquinas tried to explain the origin and purpose of the universe. He also tried to show the different roles that live in the universe and their purpose. Aquinas never doubts...
The infamous 1991 Tailhook convention prompted congressional inquiry and investigation into the occurrence of sexual harassment throughout the armed services. The findings of the investigating body opined that the scale of sexual harassment and assault that took place at the Tailhook convention was so large that it constituted a “one of the kind of event.” Of greater concern, was the question of leadership and culture. “The attitudes that permitted it to occur are not isolated. Rather, they are so widespread in the services that basic, cultural change will be necessary to limit the harassment.” To achieve cultural change, the committee proposed the following tools: 1) lea...
While studying art history in Pre-Industrial Visual Cultures this semester, one theme has become painfully obvious. There are few if any women artists included in the study of art history. If you dig deep into the books you can find mention of many unknown, unrecognized and often times very talented women artists from the past. Women in history are simply not recognized, and this is due to a large extent to their exclusion from the art world. My paper chooses to focus on a few female artists of the sixties and seventies who sought to make up for past history and ensure women were known. These women invented their own language for art making, which included sexual imagery, and left no doubt of their gender. These women made art as women, instead of trying to make art like men and be accepted. My paper therefore focuses on these women, who although werenít involved directly in pre-industrial art history were very much affected by the exclusion of women from it.
For too many centuries, women who've endeavored to make art have been seen as peculiar or eccentric. Being taken seriously as an artist often meant that whoever she was, could not be taken seriously as a woman. The sort of woman who did the “right” thing: managed a pleasant home for her man and then procreated like crazy. It was all right if a woman wanted to keep herself busy doing needlework or even painting some flowers. But, as far as serious art went, that was the exclusive to the domain of men. Women, and everybody “knew” this in the times, were not capable of artistic brilliance. This is both wrong and extremely unfair, but that's the way it was. In reality being an artist wasn’t exactly a profession anyone wanted until the Italian Renaissance made it acceptable and even then it wasn’t particularly a career a parent wanted his or her son to partake in. However, if you were taken into an apprenticeship it meant that you had a chance at making ...
Aquinas made an enormous effort to make logic and religion work together, ultimately choosing to drop his logical writing and commit himself to pursuing salvation. Aquinas’s efforts to link logic and his religion parallel today’s continued efforts to force religion into the sciences or to attempt the reverse. But his struggle also acted as a direct view into medieval western Christian culture; the western Christians repeatedly encountered problems in the academic realm with fitting Christianity and higher thinking together which, would occur for far longer than Aquinas’s time. But, if one looks at the struggle in less educated groups it mirrors Aquinas’s except, rather than fitting logic and religion together there is an effort to combine religions or religion and superstition together. Second to Aquinas as an example for religion’s effect was what I discovered whilst researching my presentation topic. I had been under the impression that, as in modern times, the medical focus would be anatomical or chemical. However, as most aspects of medieval culture are, the world of medicine was focused on the spirit. This spiritual focus remained through the middle ages and was catered to by humourism, astrology, and Christianity. While medicine’s focus did indeed limit it in some ways on a physical level, there were still great
Believe it or not, wounds from a victim are also evidence. The wound can allow the investigators to match up any marks that could have been made from the weapon and therefore allows them to determine at what angle, distance, and how fast the weapon was used.
There were two scrub technicians. They prepared a clean and sterile field, before each case, dressed up in the ppe, and followed surgical asepsis precautions. Their main job while doing the procedure was to provide the surgeon with the materials in which were needed in an appropriate time manner. Before the surgery took place, the ST received a card of what type of supplies were needed, by the surgeon. When the surg...
Although Though technology can be good, it can be worse than good, such as people always with their faces on their phones and headphones in their ears, people neglecting books and using more online text, and people wasting their lives watching TV.Children now know how to use a phone faster than they can

Today I was able to watch a vac dressing being placed on a patients wound. I had little knowledge about the vac dressing before going into this situation, it was interesting to see the situation in a real life situation first before doing research on it. There were two doctors in the patients room who were setting up the vac, one of the doctors was very good at explaining what they were doing and explaining how the vacuum dressing works. When they began to remove the old dressing I was surprised at how much packing the wound had. It wasn’t until all of it was removed that I noticed how large the wound actually was. We were able to get a nice view of the wound while the doctors were examining it. As they began to repack the dressing they
One day, this writer happened to see another nurse changing a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter Line dressing. As a nurse leader, this writer asked the nurse why she is changing the dressing. The caregiver explained dressing changes can prevent infection to the site and there are lot of patients readmitted because of central line infections and subsequent complications. This nurse demonstrated good kn...
Thomas Aquinas was a teacher of the Dominican Order and he taught that most matters of The Divine can be proved by natural human reason, while “Others were strictly ‘of faith’ in that they could be grasped only through divine revelation.” This was a new view on the faith and reason argument contradictory to both Abelard with his belief that faith should be based on human reason, and the Bernard of Clairvaux who argued that one should only need faith.
As technology advances, our society is able to advances also. Instead of tangle with how technology cause laziness or distracting us from what is important, it would better to think about how to use technology to make our life better.
Society has been impacted both negatively and positively by technology. As a result, every aspect of our lives has been influenced by technology. Hence, life is easier, yet it has taken away some of the enjoyment. For example, remember the days of less stress and more personal interaction, when there were no online messages, no emails, social media or cell phones. We have become excessively dependent on technology. As a result, we need to rely less on technology even though it has made learning fun, and business, daily tasks, work, travel, shopping, making new friends and staying in touch easier. In conclusion, technology has a lot of benefits, yet it could take over our lives and become our worst enemy if we aren't careful.
