The two diets I will be focusing on are comparing the low-carbohydrate
diet or the Atkins diet to low-fat diets. The low-carbohydrate diet on one
hand restricts the amount of carbohydrate a person consumes, resulting in
greater weight loss after six months compared to low-fat diets. The low-fat
diet, on the other hand, allows people to lose weight by restring the
amount of fat they consume on a daily basis thus causing the person to lose
weight as well, but not as much as they would have had they been on a
low-carbohydrate diet for the pass six months. Although a person initially
loses less weight on the low-fat diet, they eventually lose the same amount
of weight if they had been on the low-carbohydrate diet after twelve
months. Each of these diets has their different approaches on how to lose
weight, but in the end, they both obtain the same results.
One of these diets being the low-carbohydrate diet, also known as the
Atkins diet, whose approach is to restrict carbohydrate intake and increase
protein intake. Carbohydrates are what is found in foods such as breads and
pastas; and when broken down provides our bodies with energy. While
reducing these kinds of carbohydrates, according to researchers, causes
people to lose weight, so does the strict limitations to the kinds of foods
a person can eat while on this diet. Therefore, when people go on this
diet, they are allowed foods that have fat and protein in it, especially
foods like meat and cheeses, yet they are not allowed certain vegetables,

approaches to achieving weight loss but come up with similar results after
long-term use. The low-carbohydrate diet on one hand allows people to
consume foods that are higher in fat such as certain meats, while cutting
out carbohydrates. The low-fat diet on the other hand allows people to eat
carbohydrates, but cutting back on the fat a person consumes. Although, it
seems after further research that in the end a person will lose equally as
much weight on the low-carbohydrate diet as they would in the low-fat diet.
No matter the results, it all depends on a person’s personal preference as
to how they want to go about losing all those unwanted pounds, would they
rather cut back on carbohydrates or fats.
