The Differences Between Skill, Ability and Technique in Fitness
Skill, ability and technique are linked together in the fact they all
enable us to perform an activity productively, however each of them
means something different.
Skill: consists in the ability to bring about an end result with
utmost certainty and smallest outlay of energy, or of time and energy.
A top athlete can produce the required skill with only one attempt,
for a movement to be classed as a skill it has to have a objective,
and for the athlete to be classed as skilful this goal has to be
achieved with certainty. There are different skill classifications,
which occur along continuum lines (sliding scale)
· Open-------closed
· Self paced-------externally passed
· Discrete --------continuous
· Serial skills: is the combination of a number of skills.
To improve any skill using drills, guidance methods must be used,
these can be manual or mechanical, and this builds on the athlete’s
confidence, visual, this involves the use of coaching. Drills can
improve all skill technique and ability, as skill is a mixture of
technique and ability. Technique can be enhanced by specific practises
and athletes usually chose their sport according to their natural
abilities for example someone with good suppleness and balance and a
small body composition would take up gymnastics. This natural ability
contributes to skill levels and technique can be worked on through
practises. If the ability levels are high for a particular sport, the
performer has a diverse advantage as the technique will be more easily
learned and therefore contribute to the overall skill inte...

learner applies the skill to number of different environments in
practice, allowing both the development of the skill and the ability
to adapt that skill to a range of possible situations. This is vital
for open and interactive skill , as they are never the same twice.
Initially the movement pattern required to perform the skill is
learned and then the adaptations required.
From this I can conclude that skill, technique and ability on the
surface appear to be virtually the same thing. But if you look deeper
into them you can see that they yes are similar and all link together,
but there is a significant difference between the three. Also there
are many different structured practices to enhance these components of
fitness, it just depends on which you are trying to enhance, what for
and which suits you best.

Motor skills are motions carried out when the brain, nervous system, and muscles work together. The body must effectively use mind/body connection and awareness of their surroundings for the muscles and bones to develop fine and gross motor skills. Both of these motor skills start out as reflexes, the body has not learned them but they are uncontrollable movements. That is then later learned and perfected making large and...

Indoor Tanning beds are controversial and not without risk. The positives and negitives should be told straight up when going to a tanning salon. The risk of developing melanoma skin cancer from over exposure to UVA and UVB radiation has been proven and well documented by the medical field and research. There are a few benefits of using indoor tanning beds such as a positive mood boost, healing of some types of skin disorders and in the production of vitamin D. One must be educated about the use of indoor tanning before deciding to indulge and weigh the risks and benefits before making the decision to go tanning long term.
Indoor tanning is becoming a very popular “hobby”, but most people do not know, or do not care, about its dangerous side effects. Studies show that people who use tanning booths have a much higher chance of being diagnosed with skin cancer. If someone were to start tanning indoors before they turn 30 or 25, the risk of them getting Melanoma peaks, and if they start tanning before they turn 20 or 25, they are much more likely to get basal and squamous cancer.
Enjoy the sun safely by protecting your skin and don’t become one of the 20 people that die every day from this disease that can easily be prevented!
Indoor tanning increases the risk of developing melanoma because the amount of ultraviolet radiation given off is more than the sun would give off if a person was outside of a summer day. Statistics from Melanoma Research Foundation shows, from one blistering sunburn the chances of developing melanoma later in life. In addition, “using tanning beds before age 30 increases your risk of developing melanoma by 75 percent” (Melanoma Research Foundation). The occasional use of tanning bed can triple your chances. Also, the more sessions, hour and years a person spends tanning increases a person to a higher risk of developing many types of skin cancer (Melanoma Research Foundation). People might think they can “safe tan” but tanning damages the skin cells giving off the color. “Researcher suggests cumulative damage to skin cells can lead to wrinkles, age spots, premature aging and skin cancer. Tanning has been classified as too dangerous the several countries have made indoor tanning illegal” (Melanoma Research Foundation). People try to give themselves an excuse to tan for example, getting that “base tan” before vacations but base tans do not really help a person protect themselves against sunburn but actually gives minimal sun protection. Tanning has risk but some small studies have shown that naloxone a drug that blocks the withdrawal

It is very important to use a sunscreen every day and especially when out in the sun. Sunscreens protect the skin from the harmful rays put off by the sun. Using sunscreen will help prevent skin cancer. It is very important to understand the strength needed for the amount of time in the sun. Sunscreens come in different strengths and there are many different brands of sunscreen available. Sunscreen also varies in prices. Some are very cheap and some are very expensive. It is up to the individual to decide which to use. A dermatologist can recommend what is best for the individual needs. As we all know, we have to be careful staying in the sun too much. We often get sunburned if we do not use sunscreen, but most people think it will heal and it’s not that big of a deal. This is also the case for tanning beds. The people who say things like “it’s not a big deal” are definitely wrong. He or she could be harming their skin and could end up with serious problems, like skin cancer. If a person gets too burned too often then he or she may develop skin cancer and end up having to have skin cancer surgery. A dermatologist will check the skin and if there are any suspicious places, they will perform a biopsy to see if it is a skin cancer. If it does turn out to be a skin cancer, the dermatologist will then determine the best course of treatment. Some treatments are by
...y patients on the dangers of the sun and its effects on our skin. I remember the days when I was young and we would go to the beach and it was the “in” thing to do to use baby oil and just bake in the sun. Not only does that increase your chances of getting skin cancer but it also damages you skin in other ways like premature aging and sun spots. Not very attractive to look like you are 50 when you are actually 30.
Energy is a word that can mean different things to different people; you have many different definitions for the word. When asked most people would just give you the answer about how well they are trained, and how in shape they are. You will never get the true answer is how your body will use its energy in competitions. As the years go we have noticed the change in how athletes train, and store energy in the body so that on the day of competition they will use the max energy to have the best possible outcome. Athletes are growing, and the technology is growing to show that our athletes are nigger, faster, and stronger than in the earlier years. We have the technology to show what an athlete must consume, and all the preparation to have enough energy in their events and games. We also have the knowledge and technology to show where the athlete stores this energy and how they use it during their athletic events. Energy all starts out with the preparations for what we must consume the days prior, and how the body will go through different stages to fully use our energy so that we can perform at our best. Followed by the recovery period that is at least the highest stage for an athlete so that the energy can restore and get ready for the time to come.
Fitness has never been a big factor in my life. With being a full-time student and working part-time, I thought I wouldn’t have time to fit this into my schedule. In high school I wasn’t in sports. The only time I was being active was in physical education class. I would always be the first girl done to run the mile. I came into this with an open mind about fitness. And after re-evaluating my life. I made the decision to add fitness into my lifestyle. I know of the benefits, like living a long life, helps reduce the risks of certain diseases and cancers. I want to be able to live to see my grandchildren grow up. Fitness and healthy eating will help me become a better me.
Probably the most commonly used word by your dermatologist, your beautician, your pharmacist or just the girl next door, and for a good reason. The sun’s damaging UV rays can single-handedly destroy your skin over time and in some cases even cause irreparable damage. It will burn your skin, dry it out, destroy collagen fibers and predispose you to cancer. Whether it’s a scorching sun or not, whether you are outdoors or not, sunscreen is an everyday must-wear. You have a choice.
