Monologue in Prison Meeting Room
Young woman is sitting on a plastic chair behind a table.
Its one of those ‘I hate to say I told you so’ situations. I know, you
warned me about him. You warned me about him till you were blue in the
face. But, you know, in some ways that made it all the more exciting,
gave him some mystery. You were the one who introduced him to me, the
night we went to The Fleece and Furkin, to watch King Adora. You
remember? He bought me a vodka and orange, and he called it a
screwdriver. I’d never heard it called a screwdriver before. And he
was so charming. You thought it too, you thought he was charming. But
I guess you knew him, you knew more than I wanted to know. I was very
stubborn then, liked to form my own opinions, you know me. I’m sorry,
I really am. I thought you were jealous, because he was so charming.
Secretly, it sounds petty but, well I thought you wanted him.

When we were all about to go you went to the toilet, and we were alone
together. I never told you this, well I don’t think I did. He told me
I was beautiful. He leant over to me and whispered in my ear. His
breath was all warm and alcoholic and he said “Becky, you’re
beautiful”. I don’t hold it against you, but when you came back…the
moment was ruined. And at the time I was so annoyed at you. You know,
I did have change for the taxi, but I was so annoyed at you.

I used to wonder if you knew about us. I used to get paranoid that his
smell lingered in my room, when you’d come in of an even...

really. We got up to the room, bags came up two minutes later. He
opened a bottle of wine and we laughed like, well like we didn’t have
to go home ever, and like it would always be like this. I was so
happy, you wouldn’t have recognised me, I was that happy. And we made
love, and we loved each other, we really…he loved me and I loved him.

So, the evening and I met Francoise and Alex. They gave me the
packages and that was it. I put them, well Francoise helped me. They
were so heavy and there were, well there were forty of them. Back for
Monday and I didn’t think, well that’s the point I didn’t think
because I loved him so much. I’m so sorry, I would. God I wish. God I
really wish I’d listened to you, but he was so charming. You knew it

He said, "You don’t want to?" I answered, "no." He was quiet, and I was embarrassed because I felt I shouldn’t have said that.”
I am sitting in the University of Georgia Baseball Locker room and as I look around I can’t decide what to think about all of it. The whole team is in here, music blasting and my teammates dancing. I’m watching and observing the things around me wondering how I got so lucky to be in this place with all these great guys. In the room there are 4 game systems all hooked up with their own televisions. On the opposite side of the room are 3 couches with a massive television above playing the little league world series. Japan is playing Canada and Canada is winning 10 to 4 in the top of the 6th inning. All the lockers are nice and neat with name tags with our numbers and all have the matching stools in our locker. There are baseballs trailing around
each other, I played with little Minou in the back seat and pretended not to hear them." -
As a second semester freshman, I found English 102 to be one of my favorite classes. My professor Sally Benson, structured our class’s curriculum around issues in the prison system. More specifically juveniles in adult prisons, college classes for incarcerated individuals, and prison privatization. I found this quite interesting because every assignment we did directly correlated to these three issues. In the beginning of the semester, we, as a class, analyzed all three of these issues, to get a become well acquainted with each topic. This helped tremendously when it came to writing the first paper, the rhetorical analysis. Student were asked to choose a text from a list of resources and analyse how that text works- what he/she see a text saying,

The professional role of a forensic psychologist I am interested in is working as a prison psychologist. The reason it interests me is because prison psychologists are a big part in the function of today’s society. The prison psychologist play an important role in the rehabilitation with those who we would call the common criminal as well as working with criminals who are clinically insane. There are many roles that the prison psychologists do in the prison system such as treating all different criminals from murderers, sex offenders, violent offender and even those who have committed white collar crimes. The prison psychologist tend to work in many different types of facilities from maximum prisons, minimum security prisons, and mental health facilities that hold
