DFS guarantees clients all functionality all the time when clients are connected to the system. By replicating files and spreading them into different nodes, DFS gives us a reliability of the whole file system. When one node has crash, it can service the client with another replica on different node. DFS has a reliable communication by using TCP/IP, a connection-oriented protocols. Once a failure occurred, it can immediately detect it and set up a new connection. For the single node storage, DFS uses RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive/Independent Disks) to prevent hard disk drive failure by using more hard disk, uses journal technique or strategy to prevent inconsistency state of the file system, and uses an UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) to allow the node to save all critical data.
But In this proposed model, we logically group the roles instead of hosts and storage devices. Roles are assigned to hosts. There are many-to-many relationship between roles and hosts. Multiple hosts may have a single role and multiple roles may be assigned to a single host. The relationship between roles and the storage is also many-to-many. The specific access rights are associated with each role to access the storage.

Peer-to-peer networking has existed for years. The IP routing structure of the Internet is still peer-to-peer, albeit with several layers of hierarchy, and individual routers act as peers in finding the best route from one point on the net to another[4]. However, it is only recently, with the development applications that utilize P2P to create vast stores of media files, that it has become immensely popular. While these applications only account for a fraction of peer-to-peer networking's uses, they have received the majority of the attention.
Google File System (GFS) was developed at Google to meet the high data processing needs. Hadoop’s Distributed File System (HDFS) was originally developed by Yahoo.Inc but it is maintained as an open source by Apache Software Foundation. HDFS was built based on Google’s GFS and Map Reduce. As the internet data was rapidly increasing there was a need to store the large data coming so Google developed a distributed file system called GFS and HDFS was developed to meet the different client needs. These are built on commodity hardware so the systems often fail. To make the systems reliable the data is replicated among multiple nodes. By default minimum number of replicas is 3. Millions of files and large files are common with these types of file systems. Data is more often read than writing. Large streaming needs and small random needs are supported.

Local Area Networks also called LANs have been a major player in industrialization of computers. In the past 20 or so years the worlds industry has be invaded with new computer technology. It has made such an impact on the way we do business that it has become essential with an ever-growing need for improvement. LANs give an employer the ability to share information between computers with a simple relatively inexpensive system of network cards and software. It also lets the user or users share hardware such as Printers and scanners. The speed of access between the computers is lighting fast because the data has a short distance to cover. In most cases a LAN only occupies one or a group of buildings located next to each other. For larger area need there are several other types of networks such as the Internet.
In order to begin the task of a dial-up, you must first establish a configuration. This process is begun by right clicking on the “Start” button at the bottom left of your task bar. By selecting the “Settings” option, and then selecting the “Control Panel” icon, you are gradually edging towards a dial-up network connection. Next, double-click the “Add/Remove Programs” icon in the window. This icon resembles two disks with one red and one green dot on them. Click on the “Windows Setup” tab at the top of the window that has opened. This should be followed by a click of the “Detail” button. You should then click to add a check in the box next to the “Dial-up Networking” icon, which is in the shape of a telephone. You should then click “Next” for the next two screens. This closes the “communications” and “Add /Remove Programs” windows. At this point, “Dial-Up Networking” has been installed in the computer.

A network can be based on either a peer-to-peer level or server-based, also referred to as domain-based. To distinguish the difference, a peer-to-peer network, also known as a workgroup, is a network in which a group of computers are connected together to share resources, such as files, applications, or peripherals. The computers in a peer-to-peer network are peers to one another, meaning no single computer has control over one another. There is also no central location for users to access resources, which means that each individual computer must share their files in order for other computers to have access (Muller, 2003, p.411). “In a peer-to-peer environment, access rights are governed by setting sharing permissions on individual machines.” (Cope, 2002) On the other hand, in a domain-based network, the computers connected together are either servers or clients. All of the other computers connected to the network are called client computers. The server is a dedicated machine that acts as a central location for users to share and access resources. The server controls the level of authority each user has to the shared resources. When logging on to the network, users on client machines are authenticated by the server, based on a user name and password (Lowe, 2004, p.13).
