I want to learn to take risks. I want to change my attitude about taking chances. Assessing my academic and extracurricular achievements, I am proud of my accomplishments. I see myself as an open-minded, goal-oriented person who achieves and succeeds through hard work and determination. How much of that success is a result of staying on comfortable ground?
I began wondering about the range of my abilities when I attended Northwestern University's Theater Arts Program last summer. The theme of the institute, announced by the director, was: "Dare to fail gloriously." This idea encouraged participants to take bold risks on the stage. Over time I applied this philosophy to my acting and my life. I began the Northwestern program as a quasi-accomplished actress with a hunger to absorb all I could about acting. I emerged not only a well-rounded thespian, but also a more secure person with a new outlook. I knew that there was something about my life that I wanted to change and could change. Now, as I approach college, I am committed to continuing successes and occasional glorious fail...
The Valley Campaign of the Shenandoah Valley of 23 March to 9 June 1862 saw the rise of the Confederate Major General (MG) Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson. The Shenandoah Valley campaign allowed for MG Jackson to incorporate the principles of maneuver, offensive and surprise operations (US Army Center of Military History, 2012) through the use of his cavalry and foot soldiers.
In this area of theatre i have learned more about brainstorming, character position, the effectiveness of music, the effectiveness of light and at what darkness and more about character goals and character formation both physical and vocal.
Elite Renaissance men and women play very different roles in society, they are almost opposite of one another. For example, Castiglione describes men as bold, energetic, and faithful; while he describes women as pure and fragile. These oppositions between men and women are a reoccurring theme throughout the Courtier.

Christine de Pisan’s book, The Treasure of the City of Ladies, explains in detail the various aspects of women’s lives during the late Medieval and Renaissance culture. She addresses all women of this time from those with power and authority to the poorest peasant women. Christine de Pisan focuses on three main areas of a women’s life during this time period. First she discusses the role of knowledge and education in the lives of the various women. Then she offers her advice to all the different women of varied backgrounds and social standards. She relates how all of these women are in fact connected due to common concerns. Finally, she depicts how men and women interact with one another. By describing the way in which women are treated by the men during this time, she portrays the typical relationship between men and women during Renaissance times. Women were expected to lead a very specific life, focusing on the men of their society.
The discussion on the Court lady began from an argument over the proper way to tell a joke to a woman. Ottaviano and Gaspare took the position that women are morally weak and less virtuous than men, setting off a heated exchange that ended with the Duchess's request of Magnifico.
Therefore, the space and already existing classrooms are being held for the purpose of the ‘Greek School’ during the evening on weekdays and on Saturday mornings. There is a variety of around sixty
Talent comes in many forms, including singing dancing or just simply writing. Individuals should try to find their talent and then make goals to achieve it. There are many talented people in the world and others that yet have to realize their talent. Big or small, every single human being has a talent, but many misunderstand and don’t fully realize the real essence of talent. The poem “Ex-Basketball Player” by John Updike suggests that every individual has a talent but he should work hard to achieve it, and most importantly if you’re not successful in your plan “A” it is beneficial to have a plan “B”. To be successful in life, a person must make goals to pursue their talent.
The last Olympic swimmer just touched the wall and the race has ended. Cameras are replaying every single movement from the race and a winner has been clearly decided. Just as these Olympic swimmers will gain a medal for placing, ancient Athens had numerous accomplishments of its own. Athens “prosperity … was due in large part to its stable and effective government” (SOURCE 1). When analyzing the history of ancient Athens, is easy to see how the accomplishments of a democracy, Greek philosophy, and Greek literature all shape Athens.
Good acting relies on a kinesthetic, an intrapersonal, and an interpersonal intelligence, all of which work together to form a creative expression. There exist limitless styles of acting; there is always something to learn.
My artifact of play is the video game “Call of Duty”, this is a first person shooter game that takes places during different wartime periods. I would like to focus on why Call of Duty games do not have a setting for color blind people. COD is a game that a lot of people enjoy but if you are color blind it might be hard for you to enjoy the game for example; some times in the campaign mode you might have to do a certain task that involves picking up something that has a certain color. If you are color blind it would be hard for you to complete the task and move on in the campaign to the next mission because you cannot complete the task. COD developers should use Battlefield 4 as an example because BF4 has a color blind setting for color blind
I’ve always been a creative person since I was born, but it wasn’t until August 14, 2013, that I really understood that part of me. That day changed me for the better it was the day I saw my first Broadway show. It was the day I fell in love with the “city that never sleeps”, New York City, Times Square to be exact. A couple months prior I had really been invested in the show Wicked. I guess seeing musicals on broadway was the hit thing, because I became obsessed. Broadway shows just seemed like this magical experience like Disney World or Christmas. Then one day my father had gave in.
...er, there are those who “break through” and make more than the average worker, but when making a decision to pursue a career in acting, one must understand the difficulties and risks involving such pursuit, and be prepared for them. Fame and money should not be the first priority. Instead, anyone aspiring to become an actor should have a genuine love for becoming what nobody had thought of before; creating a character so emotionally intense that it will be remembered for years to come by those who had been in contact with it. An actor should love spending hours creating and studying his or her character and its story and background, and even more hours rehearsing lines and stage position, as well as camera and lightning position. It is the only career that allows one to become all others and it can be extremely rewarding if taken seriously and, mainly, with passion.
Actors are more than just people who portray dramatic characters on a movie screen, stage, and television. Professional actors tend to make more money than most other careers. Actors bring joy to the people who watch them perform, and take them out of the real world and into the creative world of visual communication. Performers can show more than just joy, they can also bring happiness, sorrow, fear and even comedy. Acting can be a very versatile profession. It is way for many people to refine themselves. Performing is not only about getting into a role but understanding the extent of one’s imagination. There is a lot of preparing that goes into a performance than just reading a few lines. Acting is a paradigm. Acting is very different now compared to when it first started. In todays world acting is a fast growing career and well respected. but over 200 years ago it was not that way.
“Acting is not about being someone different. It’s finding the similarity in what is apparently different, then finding myself in there.” ― Meryl Streep. I love exploring and gaining knowledge about the beautiful craft of acting. During my journey of being an actor, I notice there are two types of actors: stage and film. Stage and film actors are different in their times of rehearsal, their relationship with an audience, and their emotional challenges.
