Trailer Analysis of Mission Impossible II Introduction I am to investigate one or two trailers, and analyse the information shown to me, and how it is shown. A trailer is a preview to a film, like a blurb in the back of a book. It aims to entice the viewer into watching the film. A successful trailer is a matter of opinion, but personally I like fast action trailers with a voice over that reveals a sneak peek at what the film is about. I also like trailers with special effects too. Most action film trailer structures are like this, but some with or without voiceovers or special effects, and I would like to see trailers with no music or voice over….this creates an eerie atmosphere that I would like in horror films. I will ask the following questions about the trailers…. *Does it have a voice over? , Its function? *Does it have music? What atmosphere does it create? *What genre is it? *What are the characters like? *What colours are shown? What scene is set from this? *How fast is the trailer? What special effects are used? *What are my opinions? Why? *What is the plot of the trailer (if it tells it)? Trailer 01: MissionImpossible 2 (Mi: 2) The voiceover was short, and very precise, the voiceover's function is to say that the film is back and better than ever, this voiceover is at the start of the trailer. The music in the trailer is heavy metal and follows the trailer's speed so when it is at its fastest the screen is just flashing of short clips of the movie when the most action is occurring. This tells me that the movie is full of action. This is the perfect example of an action film. Tom Cru... ... middle of paper ... ...n action trailers are usually reds, greens and black. Comedy films tend to have mild paced speed and the music is low and very slow, also it may have weird sounds. Horror films are slow at the beginning and speeds up to flashes, this behaviour continues in the music, the type of music is also classical most of the time, the colours in horror trailers are mostly dark like blacks and greys. 'Chick Flicks' are usually mild in speed and now mostly have pop songs as a backing track; colours in these films are pastels and whites. Romance films are slow, just like the music and the colours are lavished in reds and pinks. Thus each type of film has its own set perimeters and most films follow them appropriately; however there are films that avoid the set rules. All the trailers above obey the set rules by the type of the film.
Chicanos and Chicanas are often stereotyped by people based on crude and unfair assumptions but at the same time, these stereotypes are often based on the truth. Movie directors are no exception as they attempt to understand and give representation to entire Chicano/a and Latino/a culture in society. The trailer of the film, La Mission, Che seems to be happy with his life until he realizes his son, Jes, is gay. Che then finds himself in a struggle to accept the homosexuality of his son while at the same time, Jes is struggling to find his own identity and to fit into society. The trailer has distinct ways in how it represents and shows the intersection and issues of gender and sexuality, race and ethics, as well as class. The trailer represents
There are many examples of logos and ethos that are shown throughout the trailer. There were much more examples of pathos and visual appeals that filled the trailer. Also, not only did rhetorical appeals play a huge part in the trailer but so did the characters. The main characters had a huge impact on the story and how it was viewed in the short three minutes the director had. The trailers main focus was to scare and intrigue an audience. It successfully fulfilled all of these wants by incorporating all of the above
In the beginning there was a team of explorers made up of soldiers and scientists traveling through a Stargate, an ancient portal to other planets. They use the Stargate to explore new worlds, forge ties with friendly civilizations and protect Earth from hostile forces. In modern-day Egypt, professor Daniel Jackson teams up with retired Army Col. Jackson to unlock the code of an interstellar gateway to an ancient Egypt-like world. They arrive on a planet ruled by the despotic Apophis who holds the key to the Earth travelers' safe return. Now, in order to escape from their intergalactic purgatory, Colonel Jackson must convince the planet's people that Apophis must be overthrown.
The Lego movie is the story of a simpleton turned knight-in-shining-armor and co on their journey to the top as they brave life on the run from a benevolent dictator in order to foil his devious plot to freeze the world in his image for all eternity. To make matters worse, pretty much each and every citizen is completely oblivious to the full extent of the chaos that is ensuing. At first glance, life seems all but perfect, but in reality, this could not be further from the truth. Even if this is as obvious as the sky is blue, Lord Fussiness has managed to keep resistance at bay through means of manipulating the minds of his citizens into believing a false sense of safety and freedom under his every watch.
In the documentary “Fed Up,” sugar is responsible for Americas rising obesity rate, which is happening even with the great stress that is set on exercise and portion control for those who are overweight. Fed Up is a film directed by Stephanie Soechtig, with Executive Producers Katie Couric and Laurie David. The filmmaker’s intent is mainly to inform people of the dangers of too much sugar, but it also talks about the fat’s in our diets and the food corporation shadiness. The filmmaker wants to educate the country on the effects of a poor diet and to open eyes to the obesity catastrophe in the United States. The main debate used is that sugar is the direct matter of obesity. Overall, I don’t believe the filmmaker’s debate was successful.
The end of World War I, according to some European historians, occurred on May 8, 1945 or V-E Day. A day marking the change of the world’s enemy from Nazi Germany to Communist Russia. Fears of Communism, the totalitarian government of Soviet Russia, were invited through the use of propaganda in the media by the United States government. Illustrating this type of propaganda is the motion picture, The Red Menace released in 1949 by Republic Motion Pictures provides acumens of the fears and concerns on the minds of Americans during a period in America’s history known today as the Cold War.
“Apocalypse Now” is a legendary war film directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The film’s main theme is devastation, violence, and horror. In this film Coppola thoroughly scrutinized the main characters ideas, behavior, and emotions to depict the darkness and the horror of war. His goal was to make the audience part of the horror. He wanted the audience to have a tremendous impact on this film and he succeeded with the perfect use of sound and editing in the ending sequence of his film. I will demonstrate how Coppola exploits a wide array of sound and editing to create suspense, intensity, and anxiety in the sequence to affect the audience’s emotions, using diegetic ambient sound effects, non-diegetic music, voice over and four editing types.
The movie trailer “Rio 2”, shows a great deal of pathos, ethos, and logos. These rhetorical appeals are hidden throughout the movie trailer; however, they can be recognized if paying attention to the details and montage of the video. I am attracted to this type of movies due to the positive life messages and the innocent, but funny personifications from the characters; therefore, the following rhetorical analysis will give a brief explanation of the scenes, point out the characteristics of persuasive appeals and how people can be easily persuaded by using this technique, and my own interpretation of the message presented in the trailer.
District 9 is a film that takes us into a realm of a different world from the one that we know now. It combines extraterrestrial life with immense science fiction to illustrate a story we could only imagine to ever actually occur. Although it was created for entertainment purposes, the motion picture can be compared to many different types of individuals and situations. District 9 displays many underlying concepts throughout the movie about racism, prejudice and discrimination. While studying and analyzing the plot and characters, these concepts became more translucent to me, the viewer. This paper will discuss the treatment of District 9 residents and equate their treatment to people with disabilities.
Advertisements often employ many different methods of persuading a potential consumer. The vast majority of persuasive methods can be classified into three modes. These modes are ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos makes an appeal of character or personality. Pathos makes an appeal to the emotions. And logos appeals to reason or logic. This fascinating system of classification, first invented by Aristotle, remains valid even today. Let's explore how this system can be applied to a modern magazine advertisement.

The film displays the final twenty-fours of Oscar Grant’s lives going through his struggles, triumphs, and eager search to change his life around. There will be an analysis of the sociological aspects displayed throughout the movie that show racism, prejudice, and discrimination.
Interstellar, directed by Christopher Nolan, was a very complex and interesting sci-fi movie. This movie in particular has a lot of factors playing into the movie. Everyone is able to find their favorite part about the movie, and various people can watch this movie and connect with it. This movie came out in 2014, and shocked millions of people by its intense ending. Interstellar was awarded for best visual effects, and then nominated for many other things including, best original score, best sound mixing, and best sound effects which played a huge role in making the movie. The image and sound complement each other, but I thought that image dominated over sound because there were so many silent moments throughout the movie. I thought the plot

“The Mission” is based on a true story that occurred around the borderlands of Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil in the years 1750’s according to the film and history. The Treaty of Madrid of 1750 with the Spanish and Portuguese caused both havoc and death for the people of the Guarini and the members of the Jesuits.
