Analysis of the Use of Film Trailers and Film Posters
Film posters come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colours. Some
have appealing pictures on that target a particular age group, some
are for a general audience, but they all use the same things on the
poster. Anchorage, Alliteration and Eye catching devices. You can find
them at a wide range of places, like at the cinema inside and out, or
on big billboards, or even in town. But they all have one target in
mind, to make you spend your money to see that movie. I shall be
looking at what makes a film poster a good film poster. And then I
will give an example of a good film poster with all the things I
describe.
To begin with I am going to be looking at the general make up and the
ingredients of most film posters. Normally on a film poster it has one
main picture, of the main actor/actress or a scene from the movie
itself, taking up the whole page. Then using anchorage on top of the
picture at the very top, it will probably have reviews from film
critics and other famous, and respected organizations such as
newspapers and TV stations such as the BBC. These reviews will be only
one sentence so that they can fit at least three or four on to the
poster. This will take up about the quarter of the poster. The review
that praises the film the most will probably be in really big, bold
lettering, so that it can attract a passer-by to make them believe
this film is really good. Underneath the reviews will be a quote. The
quote won't be very big but it will be big enough to be viewed from a
small distance. The quote could contain alliteration and be in a
stylish font to also attrac...

say. The voice over stops at about a quarter of the way through and
the music carries on, but that is in the background because it starts
showing funny situations and the cast also says funny things. Then at
about three quarters of the way through the voice over starts again.
This time he says the release date. But then he stops and so does the
music. The unique selling point for the movie is the fact it is a
remake of the original Oceons 11.
I have just gone over the two main types of advertisement, Posters and
Trailers, although they are similar they a different in loads of
different ways. They both say things to the target audience through
different ways. One uses colour and big writing the other sound.
Overall, they are both very effective ways of advertising.
Providing a specific example immensely heightened my position while my improvements also made an effective use of sentence variety. This kind of writing (a persuasive essay) is relatively easy for me to write because I have strong opinions to express yet I’m happy to recognize the importance of every factor. For example, in this particular essay the prompt was to choose which truth (artistic, religious, or scientific) is the most important in the novel and since I clearly saw the religious and scientific to be stemmed from the artistic, the essay seemed to write itself.

The teacher will then ask students to create their own topic sentence in which they will support using ideas from their graphic organizers, KWL chart, and their writing journals.
Writing is hardly ever done with just one sentence. It is a combination of sentences that all have to coincide with one another to reach a goal of clarity. "A series of clear sentences can still be confusing if we fail to design them to fit their context, to reflect a constant point of view, to emphasize our most important ideas. These sentences could all refer to the same set of conditions, but each leads us to understand the conditions from a different point of view," (Williams, 45). It is always a good idea to start out small; take a sentence and make is clear. This then needs to be applied to groups of sentences together to make the whole sample of writing clear.
3. Be careful with run-on sentences. Allow only one or two ideas in each sentence.
In the next part of this essay I will be talking to you about three
"If advertising is not an official or state art, it is nonetheless clearly art" (Schudson). This wonderful quote clearly describes the type of advertising found in Newtype USA. The three most used techniques by advertisers in this magazine is the use of minimalist art, color, and beautiful scenery. All of these techniques appeal to an artist, and most people who watch anime tend to draw in their spare time. This makes sense considering all of the products they have in Newtype are all Japanese animation (anime). While looking through this magazine I found that every single advertisement was beautiful. Anybody that draws can appreciate the beauty of animation and in the end the quality of the graphics portrayed in the ad plays a big part in whether or not a person will purchase it. This being said, it makes it easy to understand why they use these techniques to advertise.
Australia is considered as a young country when comparing to other countries as it has been founded around 200 years ago. Today, it is still in the trouble of some sort of identity crisis, trying to find its true identity. To try to define what really is considered as Australianness means one will have to take the plunge. For instance, in Australia the movie, director Baz Luhrmann made a great effort in telling an epic story of Australia but it still falls into the category of imprudent cliché of Australianness. Now we will look at the poster of Australia the movie then analyse it to interpret in what ways it represents the Australianness.
breaking this statement into small pieces and key words, we can see it as a
Promotional Pop Videos A promotional music video can be of many different genres. Some factors are present in all videos whilst others are specific to the aim of the song. The earliest example of a music video is Queen with their single "Bohemian Rhapsody" which was shot and released in the 1970s. The video is very simple and effective and it helped the single become of the most famous songs in the world.
Analysis of Film Posters Having studied film posters this term, it is apparent that certain forms and conventions are applied. [IMAGE]The major forms and conventions of film posters could include: A large title which attracts the eye, bold colours which stand out from the background, intriguing picture which would attract viewers to the film, persuasive language which might persuade the viewers to go and see the film, using the main character's name for promotion, and the certification will either to ensure that the right type of people are watching the film. An example of how different types of film (e.g. comedy, horror) poster use these forms and conventions to attract a certain type of person (e.g. teenagers, horror fans) would be a really scary horror film, which will use eerie images in order to appeal to horror fans. A successful film poster will accomplish attracting the target audience and persuade them to come and watch the film.

Since the late 1800s movie posters have been used exclusively to exhibit the movie that the poster was created for. Beginning as placards listing the program of films being shown they then, by the early 1900s, began including illustrations of a scene in that film and this evolved into today’s movie posters. It was said that movie posters were “the backbone” on which the film industry was built on. Movies are a huge business and a lot rides on the success of movies. Movie posters were easily understood by the public with their limited text and colorful (usually) pictures. Compared to the other ways movies were advertised, they were also easy to place around a city. The posters varied in size and varied in content as well; based off of what the movie poster is exhibiting. Movie posters can advertise the movie well but there are many posters that do not. The content that is apparent is important to the effectiveness of the movie poster.
As one of the most popular directors in Hollywood, Christopher Nolan was known for his complex storyline and non-linear structure of the film. His most famous work including The Prestige (2006), Inception (2010), Batman series (2005, 2008, 2012), many of his work has been nominated for numerous awards. This paper mainly analyses two famous film posters from his works, The Dark Knight (2008) and Inception (2010).
