Challenges of Digital Age
Technology over the years has drastically changed. For many people things like the Internet, digital cameras, and cell phones with Internet capabilities are very foreign items. These changes in technology are improving the world that we live in by making many things in our lives much easier and more efficient. An example would be a student in search of materials for a school project. Instead of having to go to the library they are able to just get online and find everything that is needed for them to complete the project. However there are also challenges which our society faces in the wake of this new technology. The effort to make our society run mostly on digital technology is very efficient yet it also lacks in many areas. The three greatest challenges of the digital age are problems encountered with meeting people online, file sharing, and the lack of knowledge between generations because not everyone has grown up with a digitalized world therefore causing problems when trying to fully immerse our society.
Over the years the internet has brought new ways to meet and keep in touch with many around the world. The creation of online communities has become increasingly popular. Chat rooms, singles sites, myspace, thefacebook, AIM as well as many others have given people ways to meet and connect with others and has eliminated some of the challenges of meeting people in person. Relationships online seem to be easier because there is no face to face contact and therefore if something is not working within the relationship it is easier to stop talking to the person then if they had a personal relationship.
However is it a good idea to actually meet the person who you get along with so well online, i...

...are not benefiting from their work. This is a problem, which our society faces because a lot of things are becoming available to us in digital files. People becoming able to access music, movies, television shows, pictures, etc. just by getting online. This is an issue that needs to be addressed as the digital age continues.
The generation gaps, which are within society today greatly, effect the increase in digital technology. The three greatest challenges of the digital age are problems encountered with meeting people online, file sharing, and the lack of knowledge between generations because not everyone has grown up with a digitized world therefore causing problems when trying to fully immerse our society. In order for many to understand hpw digital technology is affecting society they first have to be willing to understand it which many do not yet want to do.
As online relationships seem to increase in a myriad amount of ways it has become easier to meet singles, find dates, and make friends. A. DeVito wrote, “The number of internet users is rapidly increasing, and commercial websites devoted to helping people meet other people are proliferating, making it especially easy to develop online relationships” (307). DeVito
Many of my opponent claims that online dating can avoid trifling things in the real life and makes it not only easier but also happier to communicate. However, in the real life, online dating tends to lead more break-ups. According to a research, “The separation and divorce rates for folks who had paired up online was much higher than their offline compatriots, and more online-founded relationships tended to end within a year after the survey.” (Web). The Lack of face-to-face meeting will cause potential instability in a relationship. Lovers rely on chatting online and sharing moment through the internet to maintain the emotion, which is really fragile. This ways of loving can never take the place of dating in the real life. People experience interested life together and all these memories will accumulate as time goes by which is the necessary fundamental of a firm relationship. In addition, the social networking has created a tremendous amount of opportunity for people to create love relationships by matching suited ones. It is because that people know the number of members of the opposite sex is abundant so that many people will hold a view that there is no need for them to treasure the matched person so much. If you break up with someone online, you can just reactivate your profile then you may have a date the very next day, quickly and easily. This is the huge and dangerous flaw in online dating for some people will abuse this, becoming players in love and being overly picky. Thus, online dating is usually weak and transitory, making it difficult for us to work on one
After doing more research in the impact of technology on interpersonal relation, I realized that technology isn’t all that great, because it hinder us from socializing practically and create a healthy interpersonal relationship. In like manner, the same goes for online dating because in my opinion, effective communication still needs to be done in person. Body language, voice tone, and physical contact make a huge difference in making conversation more alive.
Based on a research of Online Dating & Relationships, Smith and Duggan stated that the ways of finding partners have been changed with the times. In the past, people used matchmaking, arranged marriages and printed personal ads. With the rapid technology advancement, there are alternative methods - online dating sites and smart phone dating apps. To compare with the people who date traditionally, people who date online are active to choose their dream man or woman by browsing the others profiles (9).
Computers have affected our lives in so many ways. To the way we finance things, to the way we find our future significant other. The outcomes of computers probably happen with in the last five years, give or take some. It had made people become in love with being in a virtual world and new people. That now in “real” life the people do not know how to act around not virtual people. In this report I plan to take a look at the pros and cons of meeting/talking to people over the net. In addition, give a few tidbits on what to do when meeting someone from the virtual world.
In the twenty-first century, we use the internet for almost everything that we do. We use search engines such as Bing or Google to find information. Websites like Netflix and Hulu allow us to watch shows and movies without an expensive cable or satellite subscription. Social networks provide a new way to communicate with friends and family. Entire companies are run through the internet. With gas prices rising every day, it has also become increasingly popular to see a lot of jobs turn to telecommuting. It’s only natural that as other aspects of our lives conform to the internet, that online dating should also begin to be more prevalent in how we form new romantic relationships. Online dating is the new normal, and this is more evident now than ever.
Today, Americans are faced with the increasing change of technology in our everyday life. Sometimes the change happens and we do not realize how it affects our lives. I think it is always a good idea to talk to someone that is older than yourself, like your grandparents to remind you of the times in their younger years. Hopefully, that will open your eyes to the changes we face in this generation and the generation to come. In this chapter, the author explores the relationship of changing technology to changes in both the environment and social institutions.
Dating nowadays has evolved into something similar to a math equation. Technology has changed society and culture so much in the 21st century that something which did not seem normal probably 30 years ago seems mundane now: meeting people via computer. In order to find the most compatible person, suddenly people are not able to find “the one” and need the help of a computer to tell them who their personality matches with, causing many people to not develop proper social skills along with confidence. People have different relationship goals which they wish to achieve, be it through either traditional or online dating. Although traditional and online dating have many similarities, at the same time they are very different when it comes to the
Technology is changing how we think and act at younger ages. The term “technology” doesn’t only mean manufacturing processes and equipment necessary for production, it also defines a social space and could be a social problem which makes a real impact on social reality. Different types of social software affect a variety of aspects and have both positive and negative impacts. It's important to be aware of how a digitally-driven life is changing our education, sense of self, relationships, social interaction, consumerism, and ways of doing business around the world.
Dating really changed in the few last years and meeting people online became not uncommon or just for young people only. But everyone now can use it to find their dates and meet new people.
The human need for affiliation creates the challenges and rewards of finding acquaintances, forming close friendships, as well as intimate relationships. Through technological advances cyberspace, or the internet, has become a place of multiple opportunities for people to be able to fulfill that need for affiliation. Websites, chat rooms, and online communities are just some examples of virtual platforms for people to seek others, come together, and find that special someone. These opportunities can result in positive outcomes allowing people to achieve what or whom they were seeking, but they can also result in harm to themselves and others, resulting with damaging consequences. Cyberspace does not come with a warning label. People who use the internet as a means to seek relationships are at risk of being exposed to positive as well as negative results. Being made aware of some of those risks and dangers, and realizing that forming relationships on the internet is not all fun and games, may be ways to help promote a positive future for cyberspace as a place to form successful relationships.
Over the last few decades, technology has greatly increased its abilities. It started from the simple radio to now having cell phones which can surf the web. Technology has greatly influenced our society in many ways. Nowadays it has made family relationships have a different connection and has simplified people’s lives. A couple decades ago, a person would never had imagined to Skype a family member across the world. It would be like trying to imagine teleportation. It was unthinkable, but with moderation, technology has evolved for the better. With the new technology in our world, people are able to talk to their distant family members. People are also able to save time and watch a movie with their extra time. There are pros and cons to having technology nowadays. Yes, people are able to communicate faster and save money, but technology is also disconnecting them from the people around them. Technology has changed humanity for the better, but humans must know to use technology in moderation.
Technology has impacted our society in a positive way it has also brought on many challenges which lead to loss of human interaction. Technology has allowed many people to do everything they need with just the touch of a button. This takes the pressure off of people to remember important numbers and dates. It has given humans the availability and opportunity to connect with friends and family all over the world, which makes it easier to maintain long-lasting relationships and stay connected no matter the
In conclusion, modern technology makes our life more convenient. It has advantages and disadvantages but there are so much more advantages. It is up to us to know what we use technology for, what kind of life we want to live and how to raise our children to technology. Technology makes children their schoolwork easier through the unlimited network. People do not need to travel too often for their work, but business can be done via Skype, and the most important is that everything we do not know easily can be learned from the internet too. Technology is developing fast and there is no way turning back the time. As a tip for parents most likely, since they are the ones ‘’the future’’ : try to interest your children into socializing face to face with people, to read books more often and to go out and explore the nature with friends and family.
Technology has changed modern society drastically, both positively and negatively. Technology has influenced every aspect of our life, making it simpler but not necessarily better. Albert Einstein was concerned about the advancement of technology. "I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction."1 Undoubtedly, what has changed the most are communication, the spread of information, and how business is practiced. Consequently, practically everyone knows how to use a computer, connect to the Internet, or use a smartphone. This is demonstrated by the way the Internet is used daily by millions of people to communicate, to sell, advertise, retrieve, and share information. Thanks to the Internet, information from anywhere in the world is at our fingertips. As a result, the advancement of technology has changed our life in many ways including; sharing of information, communication, business, education, social interaction, simplifying everyday tasks, replacing basic skills and jobs.
