The currently underway 2016 Presidential election is viewed by many as the competition for the single most powerful and influential position in the world. The office of the American Presidency, has been legitimized and empowered by the United States Constitution, which although grants all presidents equal and identical powers, has been the subject of different interpretations and implementations over the years. History being the strongest evidence, it is quite evident that with the change of times, came different views and perceptions of what was necessary to keep this country as safe and efficient as possible. There are several important aspects that separate the two candidates, such as their views on immigration, border control, economic policy, and the general direction of our foreign endeavors. Kasich is a supporter of tight border control, but he is also a supporter of the law abiding citizens that have established their lives and families in the United States, “in 1986 Ronald Reagan basically said the people who were here, if they were law abiding, could stay. But, what didn’t happen is we didn’t build the walls effectively and we didn’t control the border. We need to. We need to control our border just like people have to control who goes in and out of their house. But if we think we are going to ship 11 million people who are law-abiding, and somehow pick them up at their house and ship them out of Mexico.” Kasich aims to be the prime example of what the American man, and more broadly any citizen should strive to be, focusing on important relationships for happiness instead of economic greed. Kasich is not economically unexperienced himself, and the excellent job he did in restoring the economy in Ohio was a testament to this, “In the state of Ohio, we have grown 347,000 jobs. Our unemployment is half of what it was.” Kasich also voted against the 14th Amendment’s guarantee of citizenship, and has shown leniency in interpretation to the constitution in other areas. Kasich finds separation from the remaining candidates because of the values he aims to instill within the American people, the principles regarding quality of life behind his policies, and the mentality that jobs are created through a downward stream, “if Mr. Trump understood that the real jobs come in the downstream, not in the upstream, but in the
