The president of the United States of America is important role to its ability to run successfully, and smoothly. The president makes vital decisions that have huge impacts for all those involved such as, its citizens, foreign citizens, and its allies. Barack Obama made his history in 2008, when he became the first African American president. This essay will look at his background, his run for president, his achieves, future plans for America, and my opinion as a British citizen.
Barack Hussein Obama II was born in 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is the son of Ann Dunham and Barack Obama Sr. His mother a white American citizen from Kansas and his father a black African foreign student studying in Hawaii. Barack Sr left Hawaii to continue his work in his hometown in Africa. For some years, Barack Obama lived with his mother and stepfather in Indonesia; it was from here that he went back to Hawaii to live with his grandparents when his mother felt Barack wasn’t getting the best education. Barack Obama left Hawaii to further his education, studying in both California and New York City. In 1989, Barack Obama began working at a Chicago law firm when he first met Michelle. Michelle, a Princeton University and Harvard Law School graduate who was Barack boss. “First Lady Michelle LaVaugh married Barack Hussien Obama on October 3rd, 1992” (When did First Lady…) after dating for over four years. Whilst living in Chicago, the Obama’s extended their family with the birth of their first daughter in 1998, and in 2001 Michelle gave birth to another daughter.

He has adapted to the constant changes in society, and tried to give all Americans a fair and happy life. This voting rights act now allows millions of people the opportunity to exercise their franchise. This voting freedom is one of the factors which helped to gain Obama his victory in the 2008 United States election and again in 2012. People of all races can now vote and this paper will therefore seek to critically asses the role of race in the election of Barack Obama as President.
Obama emotionally influences the nation to move forward from the issues of race that is hindering America. Without dwelling on his family tree, Obama reminds us that his father was black and his mother white, that he came from Kenya, but she came from Kansas: “I am married to a black American who carries within her the blood of slave and slave owners — an inheritance we pass on to our two precious daughters. I have brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles, and cousins, of every race and every hue, scattered across three continents, and for as long as I live, I will never forget that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible.
Barack Hussein Obama also struggled and suffered a lot during his life, but he ended up as the 44th President of The United States of American. He achieved his American Dream, and in his situation it was slightly impossible. Barack Hussein Obama comes from a Muslim family, and he is also black, and his dad is from Kenya, considering the racism in the world today, and the fact that he’s not fully American, achieving what he achieved was almost impossible. Obama showed how America is free and anyone can achieve their American Dream there.
During his presidency, he did many things like, healthcare. Healthcare is a very important thing for many Americans. He made a statement “… It will provide more security and stability to those who have health insurance. It will provide insurance for those who don’t. And it will slow the growth of healthcare costs for our families, our businesses, and our government.” -President Obama addressing the Joint Session of Congress in 2009. In 2010 Obama created the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) on March 2010, by doing this it increased the coverage of healthcare insurance for many Americans.
Barack Obama is a politically successful man, despite what the statistics indicate of his race and circumstances. How did he achieve this success? Certainly, a major factor of his success today is the dramatic change in racial viewpoints since Barack’s birth in the early 1960’s. However, in order for him to have risen to this stature, we have to look at the factors surrounding his youth, which paved the path to his success today. There are three major contributing factors, which lead to Barack as a successful person, environment, education and family.
It was a couple week after my 14th birthday when Obama became president. As a young, and adventurous person, I was not into politics. The only idea I had on politics was that everyone is just a figure-head of some sort. So I thought the same with Obama. He does not really do much. He is just a symbol. It does not really matter.
