Reflection: Leadership Development Presentation

On March 31, 2016 I finally made time to attend one of the Leadership Development presentation put on by SOLD. At first I was not really crazy about having this requirement included in this class so I allowed everything else I was doing to help me delay accomplishing this part of the class. Once I decided that I really had no choice but to finally make time in order to accomplish this, I was actually pleasantly surprised at how much I actually enjoyed the presentation. It was not a presentation as I had imagined, sitting there watching a PowerPoint or listening to someone lecture about the values, traits, or skills you need in order to be a leader. (Between my work and schooling, I have had plenty of these types of presentations.) Even though this student studied, did the homework, and even asked questions, she was unable to accomplish passing grades. Each time the student did not due well on a test; the feelings of anxiety and dread at taking another test stressed her out. One of the statements made was about how this actually can play a part in how a person actually does on a test. If a person has failed or not done very well on previous tests, their thoughts of failure can actually play a part in them not doing well on the nest test. I believe it was Mike who made the statement, “you’re choosing to not think correctly”.
In order to take a step back from the feeling of dread a person must think correctly in order to think affectively. In other words, I take that to mean any student or I should go in thinking positively no matter what has happened in the
