This morning I had a cup of coffee and it got me thinking do we really need to drink coffee? Coffee is the everyday morning life for most people in the world. It is their “wake me up drink” and also their “keep me going through the day drink.” I, personally grew up around coffee. My parents drank coffee every morning, like most people, and praised it like it was their world. Most mornings, my parents would make sure they had enough time to sit down and drink their cup of coffee (or sometimes two) while reading the paper before they went to work. If they did not have enough time in the morning to drink their coffee they would become very grumpy feeling like their entire day was ruined because of it.
And what happens to coffee beans? Before you put them into the machine, all of them are multi colored and special in their own ways. But after they are ground up and blended together, the uniqueness within each bean is obscured. Once they have traveled through the filter, all people can see is just the plain coffee that they wanted. Nobody will ever see the rainbow colored beans in the darkish brown liquid.

A simple cup of drip coffee can be mastered by any novice. It's to coffee making what coloring in the lines is to art, a small challenge. It take a true coffee connoisseur to master the espresso or latte. I am proud to be such a connoisseur. Learning to make a proper cup of coffee is akin to an art apprentice learning under a great painter. You slowly work your way up. I learned from my mother. I started making coffee with "Taster's Choice" coffee crystals. I moved on to drip coffee, until graduating to the espresso machine. While it takes training and practice to make a latte, I think it also requires a certain talent. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but most people who've had one of my lattes agree that mine are the best.
