There are three main issues at the center which include: low customer satisfaction, de-motivated staff and a desperate work force. To ensure these problems are resolved it is crucial for the new manager to have specific qualities. They need to have strong leadership style, motivation and group dynamics skills. The following sections will justify why it is vital for the potential new manager to have these qualities and skills. Leadership involves the incorporation of creativity and innovation in leading people to partake in something that can be believed to be useful for all lives (Blanchard et al., 56). However, Yukl (2013, p.18) argues that there are numerous and diverse definitions concerning the concept of a leader as well as the term leadership, although a general consensus appears to suggest it involves a process of influencing and guiding relationships within an organization. There are many definitions of leadership however, they all come to the same conclusion in regard to the qualities that makes up a good leader. For example both references suggest that being creative, innovative and influential all contribute to an effective leader. Zaleznik (1977), expressed his belief that, “managers and leaders are very different kinds of people. They differ in motivation, personal history and how they think and act”. It is essential that we have a manager, who has a similar interpretation of these leadership qualities. Adair (1998, p.6) states a leader should be enthusiastic, tough, fair confidence and warmth. Cohesiveness is relevant at the Leeds centre as it can be considered to be important in terms of group dynamics as it will allow the potential manager to constructed and produce a better team. In conclusion it is vital that these three key areas are implemented into the center though the new manager. Individually and together they play an extremely crucial role, this can be seen though the knock on effect. For example, if the manger is leading the team effectively the team will then become more motivated, which would effectively lead to a great group dynamic. Therefore it is essential that the new manager has the skills and qualities of leadership, motivation and group dynamics so that they are then able to implement them into the Center in an effective way that will then ensure that the current issues will become under control in the short and long term.
