Powers of a Mobile Technology
In todays ever changing world of technology, convenience and ease of use are among the top priorities for tech companies. Computers, smart phones and tablet, are all being used constantly. If you don't know the answer to a question just type it into your phone and boom you've got the answer in a few seconds. Just like computers, smartphones have apps that allow a mobile device to do just about anything a computer can do. While the computer may have more power, mobile devices are quickly catching up. As mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones are taking over the technology industry it makes the standard PC less practical.
Why do we consider a smartphone smart or a tablet a tablet? Many different things go into these mobile devices; from all the hardware that makes the phone work to all the software that makes the phone do what it does. Apple's newest device came with a 64 bit processor also packing 4 gigabytes of ram (Higgonbotham, Stacey). While that may seem like it means nothing, it is the same type of processor a computers runs off of, unlike the older limited processors that most smartphones have. As of right now this processor may be like driving a nascar to work but soon there will be a road for this nascar. Software is another important aspect of any computing device. Without software whatever device it is, its just a pieces of plastic and metal. Parts of software are the operating system it acts as the communicator between you and your computer, then there are applications and programs and they allow you to do specific tasks (Types of Software). Hardware and software are what power mobile devices without one or the other it would be something else entirely.

...use. Running programs requires power and being mobile you have to have a battery. When smart phones first came out the batteries barely lasted all day, but as technology has progressed battery life has greatly improved and many tablets have long batteries lives. If your battery is short-lived there are cases that add extra battery life just with a case. Mobile devices can do just about everything you'd want to do on a computer and they are cheaper and more convenient.
Knowing how a computer and a smartphone run, you can now understand mobile devices and why they can compete and even out do the standard PC. For the average user a tablet or smartphone can do just about anything they want and they don't have to lug around a laptop or sit-down at a desktop computer. While a computer still may have some advantages, the mobile device always seems like the better option.
We use to have the desk top computers which we could only use at home or work that occupied a lot of space. Now we have laptops, tablets, and smart phones. It is nice to have this types of devices because we are able to use it as a means of communications. We are able to surf the web on our smart phones and also compose or answer emails. Movies and television programs can also be viewed on our phones, laptops and tablets.
There is so many different apps you can download! Apps at one time which were just used for gaming can now be used for so many different and amazing things. In “Software” Wanda Dann states “Apps- enable a human user to perform some task or activity. Other application software includes spreadsheet programs, word processors, music and video players, and electronic games” (Software, par. 1). Not only are apps helpful in everyday life they have become very widely used in different schools throughout the world. An example of technology being used in a school is used in “Apps Replace Scissors” Chris Gaylord states “For a year and a half now, the Bancroft school in Worcester Massachusetts, has required each student from grades 6 through 12 to own and carry an iPad. Apple’s tablet computer plays a role in every class. Student’s dissect digital frogs for biology, read e-books in Spanish, and email their English essays” (Apps Replace Scissors, par. 1). Some more great information is found in “Apps Replace Scissors” Chris Gaylord says “More than 600 school districts now require entire grade levels to have an iPad” (Apps Replace Scissors, par. 1). Outside of the classroom though apps can become a great way to communicate to people who live far away or even just a couple blocks away. A very cute example is found in “Apps Replace Scissors” Chris Gaylord states “By 18 months, Beckett talked to his grandparents using apple’s facetime video chat, kissing the screen to say goodbye” (Apps Replace Scissors, par.
First and fore-most, they are made small enough to carry around in a purse, bookbag, briefcase, and much more. They are wireless and portable, so they do not have to be plugged in to be used. Also, they have different cases that are made to protect them from being damaged. Currently, people seem to use technology in their ever day lives and an iPad is almost equivalent to a phone and computer combined. Technology advances every year, so there might even come a time when people will not even have to put any effort into completing certain task because different technologies will do it for
There was a time when laptops were the only option for on-the-go electronic communication. Today, we have smartphones that can do everything that required multiple devices
When searching for the latest device you have a choice between apple, and android. These two are similar but very different. Infact these both have two different operating systems. Wong, K. Y. (2010). Cell phones as mobile computing devices. IT Professional Magazine, 12(3), 40-45. doi:http://dx.doi.org/10.1109/MITP.2010.46
Mobile revolution is rapidly converting people from using ordinary mobile phones to smart phones in both developed and developing countries (Wong, 2011). People are inseparable from their smart phones and they are more likely to use mobile technologies to access different types of information. Peterson and Low (2011) state that a high percentage of students will upgrade their mobile phones to smart phones in the next 12 months, indicating a positive take up.
An evolution of convergent and divergent technologies has brought the market for divergent technologies into the information age. Soon, the radio could play cassettes and compact discs, the television could play VHS-tapes and DVDs, and the cellular phone can do just about anything. The laptop originated this convergent phenomenon with the competition of its size. Laptops became so small that they were deemed the name palm-pilot sometime in the mid-nineties due to the ability to fit in one’s palm.
The second classification of computers is portable computers. This type of classification includes lap tops and palm tops. The personal digital assistant or PDA was designed to help people stay organized. This was expanded upon and now PDA's offer a variety of services. PDA's are "easy to use and capable of sharing information with your PC. It's supposed to be an extension of the PC, not a replacement" with many different types of services (How PDAs Work p. 1). Many PDA's are even capable of connecting with the Internet and act as global positioning devices. Other portable computers are now available.

Since 2005 the world has been presented with the explosion in mobile, tablet and Smartphone devices. This advancement has been generally identified as the “post-PC” era. This era of post PC has provided mobile computing platforms that can run complex software and small enough to fit the user’s pocket. As a result of their size, portability, they gave the perfect platform for interfacing with home appliances and devices. Due to this applications have been developed for the iPhone and Android that allow the user to control consumer electronics such as TV, Entertainment Media and so
Mobile phone is a non-biological portable entity that have lots of different functions but mainly for wireless communication. The world today is a result of centuries of evolution; one of the major adaptations is technology, specifically the invention of the smartphone. The smartphone is a cellular phone that has the capabilities of performing similar functions to that of a computer (Oxford Dictionaries’ online dictionary, n.d.). The smartphone is owned by youth for the most part; however, adults and seniors are also turning toward using this device. This in turn demonstrates the popularity of this marvelous device, and is the reason why it is constantly monitored by its users. The continuous evolving of the populations' wants and needs such as communication, searching of information, entertainment and recording, makes owning a smartphone essential, and beneficial as it is portable, reliable and efficient.
Have you ever asked yourself, what the world would be like if there weren’t any mobile applications. Society is impacted by the new development in technology daily. Someone is always claiming that their inventions will revolutionize the world, but no invention has had more success over the years, in the cellular world than mobile applications. People all around the world use millions to billions of applications daily for personal and business uses. For example, social networking which is use by all generations of people. It has an influence the way we purchase cell phones, in order to have the capability. With the creation of different smartphones and tablets, comes the demand for more mobile applications. This causes competition among application builders. Mobile applications are designed to its user making their experience less complicated. Mobile applications have their advantages and disadvantages, depending on its design and designer. They can be created to be very simple or complex, depending on its intended function. Has society benefited from the usages of mobile applications or is it just a distraction. What impact do mobile applications have on society.
We know the ‘PC era’ is replaced by a ‘Smart-phone’ era, when we see almost every hand holding on to a smart-phone these days. The PC sales have persistently nose-dived, ever since the users were introduced to the smart-phones and their advanced capabilities. Smart-phones being less expensive and more convenient when compared to the clunky desktop computers, almost immediately became striking alternatives to access the Internet anywhere, anytime.
