Power
Power is an essential in Organizational Behavior. According to the authors (Uhl-Bien, Schermerhorn Jr., Osborn, 2013), power is the ability of an individual or group to influence or control others in any sort of aspect. Power is classified into two categories; one being position power which stems from the formal hierarchy or authority that comes with the specific position or role and two personal power which resides in the individual themselves and generates relationships with others (Uhl-Bien, Schermerhorn Jr., Osborn, 2013). There are many ways individuals respond to power.
One way individuals respond to power is the one in power themselves which is having control: to reign dominance over other people such as information and resources (Uhl-Bien, Schermerhorn Jr., Osborn, 2013). They are completely being depended on by the organization and ensures what needs to be done is done by taking control of others. Individuals who could use control have legitimate power which is the formal authority that comes with the position (Uhl-Bien, Schermerhorn Jr., Osborn, 2013). For example are managers who have full control of their employees that make sure they are getting the results no matter what it takes even if it includes unethical and inappropriate behaviors. Instead of using the reward power to grant bonuses to the employee they tend to use coercive power which is to threaten or punish others when they do not follow the correct directions or get the job done. Abusing power could lead to more of negative reaction from the without power which is powerlessness.
Powerlessness is the lack of autonomy and participation which is the sense of having no control, option or even says but to do what others tell them to do (Uhl-Bien, Scherme...

Providing an interpersonal communication where consumers can question the hidden fees right away is one solution that can later lead to the growing success of Hertz. A company that provides interpersonal communication for consumer is Apple. Apple which is one of the top 100 company most valued according to Forbes (2015) provides live chat for their consumers when they have a question while browsing their website. According to an article by Michaels (2015) Apple is ranked #1 in their field for support and communication with their consumer. Following in Apple’s footstep is a perfect example that could help Hertz maintains being the top car rental company with their support towards their consumers.
