Children in poverty is a huge problem today. Over 3.5 million children in the UK alone are living in poverty, 1.6 million of those children are living in severe poverty. Poverty is the state of being extremely poor. Children are people that are between birth and full growth. And putting the two together you get Child Poverty. Child Poverty is a rising problem that we face, more and more children are falling into poverty due to many different reasons. Children typically live in poverty because of low income, and the high unemployment rate. Because of the state that these children are living in, it is effecting their health, education and social lives.

In some countries there is a lack of employment, this is a very common scenario for the causes of poverty. Parents can not get a job, thus not being able to provide for their family. With the adults unable to get a job, and not earning any income, children are not getting educated, and have no money; therefore they are reduced to living a life of poverty. A lone parent is another common way for people to fall into poverty. If a lone parent has children and doesn’t have a well-paid job, the lone parent will find it hard to provide for his or hers children. This could lead the parent to be overworked trying to provide money for the family, they could also experience poor mental and physical health, and this could affect children mentally and physically too. There are a lot of different factors causing poverty, leading families with small children to living a life of poverty. This is a current issue that is rising, people may not pay much attention to these children but they are the future and they need help. Hong Kong is one of Asia’s richest cities, and is home to some of the world’s richest people. But it seems that there is about a fifth of Hong Kong’s population that is living under the poverty line. As Hunt says there is about 1.3 million people that is about 19.6% of Hong Kong’s population are living below the poverty line, this was recorded in 2012. In Hong Kong majority of families have a domestic helper, and because of this we are used to having people looking out for us cleaning our houses, washing dishes and cleaning our clothes. So therefore why would anyone pay attention to the people who are less wealthy and the people who cannot afford the luxuries that the average family in Hong Kong would.
