The purpose of this paper is to look at the positives and negatives of trying juveniles as adults. It will break down the supporting and arguing points of view. This was done by examining videos, surveys and articles about juveniles that have committed crimes. The videos showed examples of juveniles that have committed different crimes. Some got straightened out, while some continued their troubling ways. The survey asked random people about their thoughts and opinions on trying juveniles as adults. Then the articles just gave a more in depth look at the pros and cons of this topic. Through reading this article, you can hear both sides of the story, and will see why this is such a big topic to talk about today.
Introduction:
Criminal activity by juveniles is becoming an increasing problem in the world today. The important question is should juveniles be tried as adults. Well there are two ways of looking at it. Some people say kids do not have all of their mental processes fully developed. Because of this, they say that juveniles do not fully understand the crimes they commit. On the other hand, you have the people that say kids need to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. They think that no matter the age or crime, there is no reason why these young people should be out there committing crimes. Another big question is, once juveniles are incarcerated should they be put into an adult prison or into a juvenile detention center. In the detention center it would be more like rehabilitation, then they would most likely be given a second chance before they become a legal adult. There are many different ways to look at it, but which way would be the best for the juveniles’ futures.

...ke one. Another question I asked was should the death penalty be legal for juveniles. Twenty five out of twenty eight people said no, which tells you that even though juveniles be tried as adults is a highly debated topic, it doesn’t look like many people believe in the death penalty for younger ages.
The last question I asked was regarding the best way to straighten out troubled kids. The most common answer was to start disciplining them at a young age. Most people seem to think it starts with the parents. If you are taught right from the beginning you are in better hands than if you raise yourself on your own. The other common answer was therapy and counseling. A lot of people think sitting down to talk and work with juveniles can make a difference in their lives. Whatever the case may be, something needs to be done to stop all this criminal activity by juveniles.
