The positive things that my grandmother can say about getting older is being able to see your family grow, and also being able to see your grandchildren grow, she also said while joking around that she doesn’t have as much of responsibility as she did before when she had her 8 children’s, but she said it jokingly because she though I would tell my dad. We also talked about the negative things that getting older brought. One of the biggest concern is not knowing when it will be your last day on this earth. She openly talked about how she is afraid of leaving my grandfather alone because she does so much for him, she cooks, washes his clothes, and even after all the problems they faced throughout their marriage is his best friend. Another negative She does feel respect by her children and her grandchildren, but sometimes she feels like some people in the community don’t respect the older population because it takes them a while to get things done, or when they go shopping it takes them a little longer to get their money and pay. She said “I don’t know how it may be the respect towards the older population in the United States, but here in Mexico you get the “want to be” thugs not respecting you just to show off to their groups” My grandmother believes that when she hears the “old-age stereotypes” she can’t believe the comments and the jokes younger people make about older people. She believes that the stereotype isn’t true, specially the one where they say that older people are rude, which she believes that isn’t true because with her experience, people believe, just because she’s old she is dumb enough for people to take advantage of her and that’s the reason why sometimes old people react towards a negative way because they don’t want others to believe just because their old, they might not be wise to understand
