The Positive and Negative Aspects of Globalization

Globalization
Globalization is the process of integration from the exchanging and mixing of cultural aspects around the world. There are no current theories that are able to explain this phenomenon, but it has been confirmed and heavily debated by numerous experts on its importance. Experts usually claim to have noticed this phenomenon in the early 19th century, but some claim to have traced it back to prehistory. Gary Wells, a leading expert, states that “…some historians point to the voyages of Christopher Colombus in 1492 and Vasco da Gama in 1498 (which opened the spice trade to competition) as globalization's "big bang…" (3). This big bang refers to when goods and raw materials began to be circulated between the newly-discovered Americas and Europe, thus beginning the mixing of two very different cultures. Two other possible starting points are with the Industrial Revolution and the Fall of the Berlin Wall. The general view is that it most likely started in-between 1820 and 1870. Without globalization we would be without several types of entertainment, music genres, technologies, and even religion. I believe that globalization is vital to the world in order to reach a completely unified Earth and that globalization is one of the major contributors of our modern day society.
Computers and the World Wide Web are two major benefits that have been acquired due to globalization. The internet has made it possible for a myriad of highly beneficial things, including letting student’s learn through online means and enabling people to talk to other individuals from different countries. ...ary. People need to spend more time looking for ways to counter the negative aspects that globalization bring with it, because it does not appear to be slowing down or stopping anytime soon.
