Pollution
Pollution is defined as the introduction of harmful contaminants or pollutants into the environment that cause adverse effect. Pollutants are the foreign substances or naturally occurring contaminants which are generally waste materials of different forms. These pollutants cause pollution, which disturbs our ecosystem and creates imbalance in the nature. Pollutants contaminate the natural environment which affect the lifestyle of people adversely by bringing the change in the surroundings. Pollution takes the form of chemical substances or energy and there are mainly two sources of pollution, point source and the non-point source pollution. Pollution occurs in various forms, and the major types of environmental pollution are air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, thermal pollution, soil pollution and light pollution.
During the last decade, the world has observed a severe rise in the environmental pollution. There have been many concerns regarding the degradation of the environment caused by pollution and its effect on the life of the people and the wildlife. Pollution is increasing every day and it is hard for us to ignore the causes and effects that is caused by it. Human activities and natural disaster adversely degrade our environment. The main factors that leads to pollution is the result of various human activities and in some cases natural disaster, such as tsunami and volcanic eruption that bring change in the atmosphere and the surroundings. In addition, lack of use of renewable resources, clearing of forests for industrialization and more space, and emissions of hazardous gases into the atmosphere are the main causes of pollution.

Pollution not only affects people, but also affects the plants, animals, forests, land and atmosphere on which people are highly dependent for their survival. So, it is very important to control pollution as the nature, wildlife and human life are directly or indirectly affected by it.
