Who is Barbara Boxer? Coming from a family of Jewish origins (Sophie and Ira Levy) Barbara attended school at George W. Wingate High School, graduating in 1958. She next attended Brooklyn College where Barbara was a member of a Delta called Phi Epsilon sorority and an active cheerleader for her college basketball team; she achieved her bachelor’s degree in Economics and soon after married her husband Stewart Boxer in 1962. After gaining her bachelor’s degree Barbara worked as a stockbroker for three years, mean while her husband went off to finish law school. They later moved to Greenbrae, Marin County, California where the couple had two children named Doug and Nicole.

Barbara Boxer is an American Democratic politician who is the current junior U.S Senator for the State of California. She is a forceful advocate for all families, children, consumer, and the environment, born on November 11, 1940, Brooklyn New, York. Barbara Boxer was first elected to the U.S senate in 1992 becoming the first out of two Jewish female senators. Barbara Boxer first ran for political office in 1972 where she challenged Peter Arrigoni but lost a close election. During 1970 Barbara worked as a journalist of the Pacific Sun and as aide to John Burton when he was a member of Congress. In 1976, Boxer was elected to the Marin County Board of Supervisors where she served for sex years; there she was the first women. Barbara become the first female chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee and soon following the resignation of Senator Tim Johnson Barbara was chosen as a chairman of the Select Committee on Ethics, which made her the only senator to preside over two committees at the same time.
