Beauty is a concept. An idea that changes from person to person. We put on makeup, do our hair, paint our nails, and buy the latest clothing in an effort to satisfy those around us and conform to their idea of physical beauty. By doing this, we often forget who we are and lose our inner beauty. Although many people focus on physical beauty, inner beauty is more important because it is permanent and a representation of a person’s true self.

How many times have we heard or said the clique “don’t judge a book by it’s cover,” yet we focus so much of our attention on our physically appearance. Everyday we encounter images in the media that make us believe we have to look a certain way. Physical beauty is portrayed as important and essential in order to find love and acceptance. .... We often see other’s character and change to be like them. By doing this, we lose our own inner beauty. We are not our selves; we are a copy of someone else.

Problem can arise with inner beauty and they are seen everyday. People try to act like someone else because they do not know how to be their self. They hate their appearance and that causes them to become depressed. Learning who you are and accepting yourself is the only way to inner beauty.
Rather than not focusing on physical beauty altogether, we should spend a moderate time on it and then focus a large amount of our time on inner beauty. There has to be a balance between external and internal beauty. Once we find the balance, we can live our lives happily. However, although physically beauty is important, inner beauty is more important because it is permanent and a representation of a person’s true self.

- ... A woman’s main purpose for enduring this is so she can seem sexually attractive. Many seem to forget that beauty is a reflection of our inner spirit. No matter if a woman goes through a process to beautify herself or not, the final result is a beautiful work of art. “The quest for beauty has changed significantly but the purpose remains the same, to show off material wealth, social position, authority, and flaunt sexual appeal” (“The Cultural Implications of Beauty”). Essay about Proper Feminine Beauty in George Eliot's Adam Bede

- Proper Feminine Beauty in George Eliot's Adam Bede Victorian women lived according to strict social conventions, which dictated their actions, emotions, and beliefs. These conventions were often presented in antithetical pairs: private versus public spheres, the angel in the house versus the fallen woman. One of the most complex paradoxes for women to master was that of beauty versus vanity. Society’s rules required a young lady to be attractive, but not provocative; diligent about her appearance, but not overly so; aware of her beauty, and simultaneously unconscious of it....   [tags: George Eliot Adam Bede Essays]

- “My teacher tells me beauty is on the inside. That 's just something that ugly people say” (Liar Liar). Growing up we are always hearing about how important is is to be nice, have integrity, etc. but is that inner beauty enough. Beauty is a perception that has no set attributes attached to it. This means beauty varies from person to person and the idea of what beauty defines stands for can mean different things too. That leads to the main sets of beauty, inner and outer. Essay about The Importance Of The Inner Beauty And Capabilities

- Transition is changing one’s original belief and intrinsic attitude. It is caused by people’s developed sense of autonomy, which helps people to distinguish right from wrong and realize their shortcomings and weaknesses. It leads people to make a change on themselves in order to accomplish their pursuit of a better self. - The value of physical beauty in literature is often hyperbolized and used as a signifier for romance, ingenuity and moral goodness. The subversion of this trope however, gives forth a more nuanced conversation on the role of physical appearance in society and more specifically how it connects to intellect and destiny. - Attractive people are treated better, have more friends and are more successful, both in relationships and professionally, than their unattractive peers (Cowley, 1996). Attractiveness does more than give one preference in platonic and familial relationships; in fact, Buss et al. (1990) found that it is important cross-culturally in choosing mates. In the animal kingdom, female zebra finches choose to perform extra-pair copulations with males that are more attractive than their mates to ensure better genes for their offspring (Houtman, 1992)....   [tags: Beauty, argumentative, persuasive]

Essay on The Importance of Inner Beauty

- “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder” This saying first appeared in the 3rd century BC in Greek. It didn't appear in its current form in print until the 19th century, but in the meantime there were various written forms that expressed much the same thought. This famous saying implies that everyone has their own definition and recognition of beauty. What is seen as a marvel to one person might be the complete opposite to another, just like a dress that I found very beautiful but my Mum found it not at all nice which explains the saying “One man’s garbage is another man’s treasurer” (Aighearach).Beauty… some people believe that beauty is all physical, having great looks, having all the guys...   [tags: love]

Essay on Inner and Outer Beauty

- Beautiful is a praising and admiring description which most people would love to hear about themselves. Although some people believe inner beauty is more important than outer beauty, the truth is that most people love outer beauty. As stated by Emerson, “if eyes were made for seeing, then beauty is its own excuse for being” (“Ralph Waldo Emerson,” par. 28). People not only want to be beautiful, but they also tend to seek physical attractiveness. In fact, this is a culture consumed by beauty and attractiveness (Bennett, par.3)....   [tags: Sociology, Power, Attractiveness]
