The topic that I believe does not get notice enough is child abuse. Many people think that it has to be a certain type of home for things of this nature to happen, that’s not true. There have been many cases that have been reported, but also not enough cases have been reported or sent to trail. A report of child abuse is made every ten seconds. Yearly, referrals to state Child Protective Services involve 6.6 million children, and around 3.2 million of those are subject to an investigated report (Childhelp). This topic has a few subtopics I would like to highlight: Physical Abuse, Neglect, and Sexual Abuse.
Physical Abuse, is a type of abuse that is any intentional act causing injury or trauma to another person by way of bodily contact (Wikipedia). Children that are being abused are scared to tell sometimes about the abuse, making it harder for any one to help them. For the law to help a child being abused them must have enough evidence to put the prosecutor behind bars. I don’t understand how people in their right mind could hurt a child like that. Some children situations are worse off than others. There was this Facebook post that was from a YouTube video of a lady caring for an infant baby being videoed. The baby was crying historically because the lady wanted the baby to shut up. However, she was slapping the baby as hard as she thought was necessary over and over again. Telling the baby to shut up and stop crying (youtube). There was another case with a six year old girl named Lauren Kavanaugh, who was placed back in the care of her mother because the social worker forgot to have the mothers rights terminated and with that being said, the little girl was abused. The social worker reported her case to the police and judge, ho...

...them being hurt or mistreated. When things of this nature happens it is very important to allow that child to get counseling to help cope with what has happened to them. To renew their mind and way of thinking. Some children who do not seek help become angry, and violent against themselves, others, and other living creatures. I believe there are many unheard cases because the children are afraid of speaking out, afraid they will get hurt more. Children out there thinking no one will believe them, because they are a child or because no one has before. Physical abuse, neglect, and sexual abuse are the leading cause of many of the children in the worlds death, or if its safe to say leading cause of adults being the abuser to other children, because they didn’t receive the help they desperately needed. No one was there to hear them or give them the justice they deserved.

Physical, Sexual, Emotional Abuse, and Poverty Essays

For example, the poverty threshold for a family of 5 with two children under the age of 18 would be $27,517 (census.gov 2013); an amount that would be difficult to live off of in major cities where the cost of living is much higher.
