From my experience, I have been struggling with making a strong persuasive case and supporting my claim with enough and proper evidence. It has always been a hindrance for me to find supporting evidence and sufficient amount of evidence to support my claim. In a perspective, this syllabus plan also inspires me of how to further improve my persuasive writing skill. I think that it would be very beneficial to have a persuasive writing English class. Every day there will be some sort of small arguments, or small talks, with persons that you interact with. Whether it is a friend, colleague, co-worker, or parents, there has to be a reason why you stand by your claim and stick with it. I think that it is important as a student in a certain city, has to know a little knowledge about the positive and the negative side of the city. For example, in this case is Seattle, studying at the University of Washington has been great and all, but students must know the negative side that lives in Seattle as well. I acknowledge that the materials that I have chosen may not be in the best interest of the students. In my opinion, I think that there is an importance that students also become more aware and sympathize of domestic and international issues as the world become more globalized. To make the topics more interesting to students, I implement videos into part of their preparation because by having visual of what really happening out in the field. By watching the videos of relevant topics, they may look at the conditions of some of the problems without having to go into the field. Frontline, from the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), is a great source for great documentaries about problems in the United States, and globally, because they go in depth about a certain topic and clearly shows what is happening on the field. I am not saying that students should not go to downtown Seattle and look at the problems first hand, but I am saying that students may not have time to do community service because they have their own homework and other plans to do. I have had some thoughts regarding with community service as well, and I have a few concerns. First, it may result in bad impression of university students come and go in just a few months, or a few weeks, just because the quarter is over or that they have gotten the required amount of hours. I am afraid that the community that students serve at may look at them as careless, there is no real passion to care for the community. So, it may not be the best idea to
