High school can be a very interesting and exciting time is a teenager’s life. From pep rallies to prom and doing homework to having a job, a teenager always has something going on in their life. In the midst of all this, some students begin their love life and start a relationship. Depending on how a couple feels, some decide to have an intimate or sexual relationship. Unfortunately, sometimes “accidents” happen, and by accidents, I mean pregnancy. Of course the majority of teenagers are usually very surprised when this happens, and have no idea how they could have become pregnant. On top of being surprised, I am sure that the majority most likely did not use any type of contraceptive either.
In 2014, the United States had a birth rate of 24.2% per every 1,000 women ranging from the ages of 15 to 19. If you think of the millions of teenage girls living in the United States, that is a very big percentage. This percentage is ruining the intelligence and ability to be a benefit to society for a good portion of the girls in our country.
Therefore, to not disturb the ever so distracting hormones of a teenage girl and to not “ruin” the life of her male companion, I have come up with a solution. I propose that the United States Congress shall make it illegal to conceive a child while under the age of eighteen. While this is not something police enforcement can monitor on a daily basis, I have also come up with a consequence for the violation of the new law. Any girl under the age of eighteen that is found pregnant will simply have to have an abortion. Quite honestly, this could actually benefit the teenager. There are several reasons as to why this consequence will benefit teenagers:
1. Since the punishment would be a...

...ers, specifically the girls, receiving better jobs after college is increased. If they drop out of high school, there is a very high chance there is not many jobs available to them. However, since they will be able to finish school, this opens up numerous doors for them in their future.
Some may say this proposal is ridiculous and they are welcome to have their own opinion. However, since this high percentage of teenagers deciding to engage in sexual activities are irresponsible enough to go through with these acts without any type of contraceptive, they shouldn’t have to be responsible for bringing a child into the world. The smart thing to do if wanting to engage in these activities would be to use the numerous free contraceptives available to everyone in the United States. I guess that is too much of a thought-provoking decision for these teenagers to make.

Persuasive Speech : School Uniforms

- Persuasive Speech: H. 4482 I. Attention: I remember when I was in high school I would wake up every morning dreading the thought of “what am I going to wear today?” I remember seeing girls in school who would always have new clothes and I would wish of a wardrobe with name brand clothes. With my parents having three daughters in school who didn’t require uniform I could just imagine the nightmare it was for them to have to take three girls shopping all the time. II. Credibility: I am not stating that enforcing school uniforms will get rid of all problems a school has but I do know for a fact that schools who don’t enforce it have more problems and school who enforce have less problems to w...   [tags: High school, Education, Dress code, College]

Argumentative and Persuasive Essay: Should School Start Later?

- Don't you hate waking up early for school in the morning. Most high school students wake up before the sun rises just to become ready for school. Teenage brains do not begin to function that early considering many are tired from staying up late the previous night. The National Sleep Foundation reported that most teens do not retain enough shuteye, one study found that only 15% reported sleeping eight 1/2 hours on school nights. That fact was extremely true for me when I attended high school. I barely was able to wake up, get dressed, and be in school on time since I was so tired....   [tags: high school students, attendance]

It was not until recent years that school shootings became more of a common and feared issue. As a future educator, it is a terrifying thought that my classroom could be invaded and it would be my responsibility to protect my students. Even with the number of school shootings rising every day, our government has yet to make it legal for teachers in every state and every school to carry a gun in the classroom....   [tags: Teacher, Education, High school]

Drugs in High School Essay

- The line between public safety and the continuation of a high standard of privacy for all is a razor thin line; the United States government itself straddles it every day. Such is one very serious complication that the administrators and security forces of Coppell High School face: it is in the best interest of the administrators to prevent drug usage in the school as to stop the spread of any conflict (namely any characteristically delinquent behaviors such as interpersonal violence and school dropout) that they could potentially cause....   [tags: Drugs, argumentative, persuasive]

High School Internet Censorship Essays

- High School Internet Censorship     The common image that comes to mind on the topic of censorship is that of book burning. Dating back to ancient times, the easiest way to deal with unwanted writings has been to get rid of them, usually by heaping them into a blazing pyre. In his most famous science fiction novel, Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury warns of a futuristic society where all literature is destroyed under a kerosene flame and the citizens' freedoms are kept in check by the lack of written information....   [tags: Argumentative Persuasive Topics]

Essay about High School Curriculum

- High School Curriculum When reviewing the literature regarding the past, present and future of educational curriculum, several main points seem apparent, namely that curriculum is cyclical, that a dilemma or paradox exists, and that curriculum must be looked at with a sensitive view. According to Lashway (1999) educators once saw educational reform as cyclical. Every ten years or so one could expect a public outburst followed by frantic efforts to mend a broken system. However, in the last twenty years there seems to have been a perpetual reform....   [tags: Education Argumentative Persuasive Papers]
