Personality is essentially the culmination of the characteristics that make up an individual and that make the individual unique. Personality influences things such as a personas behavior and who that persona interacts with and how the interactions occur. After studying different personalities and reading the play 12 Angry Men I have a better understanding of myself and those around me. This brought me the realization that my close friends and I have very different personalities due to this we all have different outlooks on the world and different ways of responding to the occurrences of the outside world. Although we have these differences I have also noticed that we have a substantial amount of similarities such as our moral standards and for most of us the belief in achieving great things through hard work. All this aside, I have noticed that it is often times difficult for us to make group decisions when we want to go out and have fun. These decisions generally include where we are going, what time we will be going and what we will be doing. In a like manner, the jurors in 12 Angry Men seem to have a similar problem. However, their problem is more difficult especially considering the fact that they don’t know their individual personalities and their decision will ultimately decides whether a person lives or dies. After taking the online personality test I learned that I am an INTJ personality. Consequently, this was not a big surprise for me because I had already taken a similar test in my psychology class and ended up with the same result. I did not learn how accurate the test was the first time since I did not do further analysis on the exact meaning of my personality type. The clashing of the different personalities of jurors proved to be a major source of the conflict in the play. Even though the jurors in the play 12 angry men with their different personalities and viewpoints had many quarrels throughout the trial, they ended coming together and agreeing to acquit the boy of his crimes. This shows that even though our individual personalities and those of others around us are different, we can still come together and actively open ourselves to the different perspectives and ideas to achieve something important.
