Personality is the combination of characteristics and qualities that forms an individual 's character. It 's the way individuals interact and react with each other. Theories suggest that personalities can be the results of heredity (biological, physiological, or inherent) or environmental (culture, society, or media). Over the years, personality and assessment frameworks have been developed to shade some light on how our behavior is linked to our personalities. Because personality is a set of individual differences that are effect the behavior of an individual, Briggs Type Indicator and the Big Five Personality Model has been designed to help provide a better understanding personality traits. By understanding our own personalities and those of others, we can establish why we think, feel, and act the way we do. This self-assessment is beneficial on the personal and business level. It’s favorable for companies because managers can use this information to place employees in job positions that best fits their personalities. In addition, employees can take into consideration that fellow coworkers may not have the same work ethics that they possess; therefore, placing those indifference aside to accomplish the organization 's objectives.
As an employee working within a diverse organization, there 's the possibility of misunderstanding with the work ethics of others. This is what happened between a coworker and myself. I have been viewed as serious, methodical, analytical, and hardworking individual, so when it came to getting a job done I assumed everyone would possess some if not all of those qualities. ...il, I need to identify the reason why. Generally, I do not like to see the misfortune of people successful or not. So where does this proclivity stem from? Is it the belief that some successful people get what they deserve when something relatively minor happens? Maybe it’s my desire to see the attitudes of others’ like or dislikes expressed on their values. If I evaluate this weakness in terms of my job performance at the elementary school, maybe subconsciously I didn 't want the company to fully success because I felt undervalued. This in turned caused an internal change within myself that I did not realize. So I need to be more conscious of how things affect me in the workplace and address it to the best of my ability. Attitudes can be negative or positive but not permanent like our personality; therefore, can change when there is a strong enough cause to do so.
