A personality is something unique that everyone has; though a group of people might fit into a single block—everyone experiences and reacts to situations differently. According to Carl Jung and Isabel Myer-Briggs, there are 16 varying types of personality that are centered around eight contradictory preferences of general attitude (introversion vs. extroversion), perception (intuition vs. sensing), judging (thinking vs. feeling), and the way of processing the above information by either being more dominant in judging or perceiving. Though the suggestion of grouping together complex and intricately woven experiences and thoughts—a personality—to create standardization seems radical, Jung was able to provide a framework to classify personality types. Classified as INFP, my scores are as followed: I have a moderate preference of Introversion over extroversion (50%), am slightly iNtuitive (9%), distinctly Feeling (66%), and slightly Perceiving (28%). Characteristics, according personalitypage.com, “for the INFP, personal success depends upon the condition of their closest relationships, the development of their creative abilities, and the continual support of humanity by serving people in need, fighting against injustice, or in some other way working to make the world a better place to be”. An INFP might also be sensitive to criticism, blame others for their problems, experience rash outpourings of anger, experience high tension and stress if one disagrees or disapproves of their actions (personalitypage.com).
When first taking this test, it’s easy to have doubts of the authenticity of the findings. All one has to do it answer 60 or so questions and his or her traits will magically appear. It sounds crazy and unlikely, but in my cas...

... face my positive attributes and flaws. It’s always been difficult for me to express my emotions thoroughly and concise, but I believe this is useful for my personal growth. Being adept to appreciating creative developments, helping others and fighting social injustice is a part of me, and thus useful to every aspect of my life. On the other hand, some characteristics stunt my success and happiness. I realize I should not be so self-critical and be okay if others disagree with my opinion. I do not have to be academically perfect. Furthermore, my rash outbursts and ability to blame others for my problems pose a severe threat to any relationships. Although it sounds crazy to be able to standardize personality traits and there is no scientific proof of doing so, Carl Jung and Isabel Briggs-Myer were able to create a valid framework of how my mind perceives the world.
