Reflection Of Personality

Personality as defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary is “the set of emotional qualities, ways of behaving, etc., that makes a person different from another person”(Personality). Personality can refer to intellectual qualities like intelligence, way of speech, thinking and reasoning abilities and also to social characteristics like sociability, generosity, and kindness, etc. Certain characteristics judge people as to having strong or weak personalities, good and bad personalities. But what is it that makes someone have a strong personality? When I think of myself, I think of shy, quiet, and secluded. To be altruistic means to show a disinterested and selfless concern for the well-being of others. Putting others before yourself says a lot about the person you are. It shows people they can trust you. That you are in fact truly concerned about their wellness, and not just some stuck up person who will only look after themselves. I was raised in a religious family that taught me to care for your neighbors, and to show kindness to all those around you, and I continue to hold those values. I have always been the one to help others, when they need help or are struggling with something. It brings me joy to know that I helped out in one way or another and that I made their life in one way or another better. Throughout my life I was never the one to be selfish. I did everything I can to help. One of the ways I am altruistic is that I love to do volunteer work. I’ve helped out in many places such as the Soup Kitchen, Animal shelter, church, and retirement homes. Helping bring a smile to someone you don’t even know is the best feeling you can get. Being a friend to all would be another reason I consider myself to be altruistic. I am not the type to not include anyone. I like to make sure everyone feels welcomed, whether it is being included in a group, or simple just having someone to talk to.
